Before Leeloo came to us in 2018, I had Sadie Hawkins (a tabby with a big nose) for 17 years. I can get along with any cat, and I let them dictate the engagement they would like to have. Whether they want to have serious play sessions, cuddle time, or just back off and give them time to adjust, I can accommodate! I have traveled frequently myself, so I understand the importance of peace of mind while you’re away. You can know your cats are safe and well looked after. I think I’ve documented every nap Leeloo has ever taken (she’s SO cute!) and I won’t be able to resist taking pics/video of your cats either. I’ll send them to you so you can see them every time I visit.
I live in a small apartment with my husband and Leeloo near downtown Sarasota. If you’re unsure if you live within range, send me a message!
During a visit, I will:
Feed your cat(s) to your unique specifications
Administer any medications if needed
Play, cuddle, or engage with your cat(s) to their comfort level
Send you pics/video of your cat(s)
Scoop/change the litter box
Clean up any messes (I’ve seen the full spectrum of vomit and diarrhea)
Bring in mail and/or water plants

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat sitting with Meowtel since Dec 2022.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love all cats, and getting to know your kitty(ies) and their personalities is delightful. I enjoy connecting with your cat via playtime, cuddles, and/or treats.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
My very first reservation was for two cats named Sydney and Maggie. Sydney was a young cat who was ready to PLAY with his wand fishing toy! Maggie was an older queen bee who loved to be brushed and knew her rightful place was on the countertops despite my petty entreaties otherwise. Right from the beginning, these two cats were not shy and ready to interact. While I've been able to bring some shy cats out of their shell a bit, it's so much fun when they are immediately curious and ready to engage.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
My kitty is Leeloo, a black cat rescued from the Humane Society. She loves food, treats, sitting in her Mommy's lap, and chasing small furry balls.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Definitely the right choice for most cats is allowing them to stay in their familiar territory and having a sitter come to them instead of boarding. This will be the choice that is most relaxing for your cat(s). In choosing a sitter, you want to find someone who understands cat body language, and who is willing to let kitty lead what kind of engagement they want to have.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
At the Meet & Greet, I use a checklist so we can make sure neither of us forgets any pertinent information. I make sure to respond to any and all messages as quickly as possible, so it's easy for you to ask questions and get the peace of mind you need.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
First of all, cats are not allowed outside and I'm on the lookout for their sneaky little ways of scooting out the door! Second, we make sure that any little spots they could get into (but not get out of easily) are blocked off. I also am thinking about emergencies that could crop up when the owner is away. I make sure we locate carriers in the event I need to take kitty to a vet. I even evacuated two client cats to my place in a hurricane! Fortunately no one was hurt and no property was damaged.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am usually available during holidays and keep my calendar current. If my calendar is free, then you can feel free to book!
What is your favorite cat toy?
I have a laser pointer attached to my key ring that is often a big hit with client cats. But I also follow up with physical wand toys your kitty can actually catch.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I never try to reach in to a timid or anxious cat's hiding place. I would like to coax them out, although that won't always happen and that's ok too. As long as they have all their needs met, the kitty parent can have peace of mind that their cat(s) are in the best possible space, their own home. But I have had success bringing cats out of their shell, and often it is with playtime! Even if they don't chase it, if they are following the toy, that is engaging their brain to some degree. It has been my experience that once a cat comes out, they demand petting/playtime/treats in abundance!

WOW!! Sherrie helped us so much!! We had work being done while we were away and didn’t realize that the contractors would be sealing off portions of the house and entire rooms. One cat got sealed in a room but Sherrie hunted her down and then came back a second time the same day to move both cats and their food/water/litter into the only room that wasn’t being worked on (please know we had no idea they’d be doing THAT level of construction even though we told them about our cats). Sherrie was a cat-saver. I was so worried but she put my mind at ease.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Sarasota cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

I couldn’t ask for a better person to take care of Sam. I got blown away when I saw she had developed a relationship with him on the first day. He is very shy, but he fell into her arms.
