What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been caring for cats for many years as a cat owner. Over the years I’ve had several cats, and at one point I had three at the same time, so I’m very familiar with different personalities, routines, and care needs. I’m comfortable with feeding schedules, maintaining clean litter boxes, playtime, and recognizing when a cat needs quiet space versus interaction. Living with multiple cats has taught me how unique each one can be, and I always take the time to understand their individual preferences so they feel comfortable and secure.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most about cat sitting is getting to know each cat’s unique personality. Some cats are playful and curious, while others are more relaxed and enjoy quiet companionship. I find it very rewarding to spend time with them, whether it’s engaging in playtime, offering gentle affection, or simply sitting nearby so they feel comfortable and safe. I also enjoy helping cat parents feel at ease while they’re away by knowing their cat is receiving attentive and caring visits.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
When caring for timid or anxious cats, I take a calm and patient approach. I allow the cat to approach me on their own terms and avoid forcing interaction. I keep my movements quiet and gentle and often sit nearby so they can get used to my presence. Over time many shy cats begin to feel more comfortable and may come out for play or affection. My goal is always to create a calm environment so they feel safe and secure while their owner is away.

Debbie arrived daily at a consistent time, cleaned up after my one cat"s bad habit and cleaned up after them in general. Debbie sent me pictures and updates. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Sarasota cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
