Cat Sitting in Seffner, FL

I have been a pet parent since I was four years old and living on a farm property with our strays- which makes 24+ years of cat love and care. My most recent kitty, Ella Tiabeanie (Bean), has been my joy for 9 years and sadly passed from cancer. Prior to, she had anxiety that required medication and comfort and later as the cancer grew, required medicine and protection (wound care and coverage). She was a clingy but happy girl and super spoiled- from fancy feast treats and special broths to raw foods researched specifically for her health, such as salmon and spinach in moderation and carefully prepared. Aside from Bean, I have had a long variety of kitties from all walks of life except from breeders. I fed and later fostered strays from the street and found them loving homes. As expected from fostering, I have learned how to bathe cats, provide topical and oral flea treatments, any medication required for mental or physical diagnoses minus any injections (but... I have been a pet parent since I was four years old and living on a farm property with our strays- which makes 24+ years of cat love and care. My most recent kitty, Ella Tiabeanie (Bean), has been my joy for 9 years and sadly passed from cancer. As expected from fostering, I have learned how to bathe cats, provide topical and oral flea treatments, any medication required for mental or physical diagnoses minus any injections (but willing to learn), performed cat appropriate first aid (such as wound cleaning, ointments, and dressing), food and water regularly provided and freshened as needed, cleaning of their items from litter boxes (routine and deep cleaning) to toys to beds to cat trees and favorite bedding (I always provided special bedding for my kitties, but allowed them to pick one of my own blankets as well), vet visits (including keeping fairly detailed records), and tended to behavioral issues, such as spraying, aggression, aversions/anxiety, inappropriate scratching, and more. I also have experience with bottle babies and the required care for young kittens. As a Registered Behavior Technician for children on the spectrum, I have found in my training, studies, and 3 years of experience for my profession that a lot of core principals, such as positive reinforcement/rewards for desired behaviors, also apply to furry friends and have had success in applying principles to my cat care experience. For example, I taught Bean that using her favorite cardboard scratcher instead of furniture or carpet resulted in catnip or treats. As for my own personality, I have been told that I’m the parental (mom/dad) friend- always there for comfort, security, care, teaching, and advice. I love to cuddle and play with kitties, but I also find joy in providing for them such as preparing special meals and aftercare once medicine is administered.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Although I am not ready for a new kitty following my most recent kitty’s passing, I have had dozens in the past and could provide a list as long as the fabled Santa Claus of names of kitties I’ve cared for and owned. Ella Tiabeanie was my most recent kitty and she was tabby-calico mix that was a funny, sassy, playful, clingy, and loving kitty. A few more recent kitties I’ve owned or fostered include: Nerd the tuxedo kitty that loved to watch us play video games, Catniss the timid motherly void/black kitty, Luna Aurora the cuddly mellow void kitty, Maru the Egyptian Mau-Maine Coon mix that became an Emotional Support Animal, and Honey and Beesley the ginger tabby siblings that craved cuddles and play time.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

For the home, I check windows and doors to make sure there aren’t any chances to break in and ensure there are no hazards present- whether dangerous cords, broken items, and other dangers. As for the pet safety, I check for hazards for cats from plants to gaps/holes they could get caught in to cords that are frayed or otherwise hazardous. I also check for any health issues such a kitty colds, upset stomachs, claw issues (such as a broken claw or claws curling towards the paw pads), and various other concerns that may need extra attention. I always contact the owner for any concerns or changes to/in their kitties and provide proof of health and comfort while the owner is away.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

To explain this, I will tell about cat sitting for Patrone the ginger tabby. Patrone would often be described as afraid of his own shadow. He would panic if a door across the house opened or closed, if you moved anywhere near him, or at any sudden movement or noise. He was my roommate’s cat. Patrone was brought over before his owner moved in and I was responsible for most of his care until his owner was fully moved into the house. Patrone would find the deepest or smallest space to hide the moment you opening the door. I earned his trust by providing food and water, giving him a more comfortable appropriate hideout such as putting his bed and favorite blanket in a box covered with a sheet so he had a fort to feel safe, laying on the floor until he approached me, slow blinks, and treats.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Seffner cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
