What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most about cat sitting is the opportunity to form a special bond with each cat. Every cat has its own unique personality, and I love learning about their quirks and preferences. Whether it’s earning their trust, seeing them relax in my care, or simply sharing quiet moments together, it’s incredibly rewarding. I also enjoy creating a safe and comforting environment where they feel at ease, knowing they are well-cared for. Plus, spending time with cats—whether playing, cuddling, or just observing their playful antics—brings a sense of joy and fulfillment that’s hard to beat!
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I take both the cat’s safety and the home’s security very seriously while cat sitting. I ensure all doors and windows are securely closed to prevent escapes and check that hazardous items—like toxic plants, cords, or small objects—are out of reach. I follow the cat’s routine closely, including feeding, litter maintenance, and playtime, to keep them comfortable and stress-free. For home security, I double-check locks when entering and leaving, bring in mail if requested, and ensure lights or blinds are adjusted to maintain a lived-in appearance. My goal is to provide peace of mind for both you and your cat.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
When caring for timid or anxious cats, I prioritize patience and a calm environment. I give them space, allowing them to approach me on their terms rather than forcing interaction. I move slowly, speak softly, and avoid direct eye contact, which can feel intimidating to cats. Offering treats or using gentle play with toys can help build trust. I also maintain their routine as closely as possible to minimize stress. If they prefer solitude, I respect that and check in from a distance. Over time, with consistency and care, even the most anxious cats begin to feel safe and comfortable.

If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

- February 13-19: Presidents Day

- June 16-22: Juneteenth

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Wellington cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
