What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have 26 years of hands-on experience caring for cats and felines of all breeds and sizes. My experience includes caring for my own cats, fostering and rescuing cats, private cat sitting, and pet sitting through platforms in the past. I have also spent many years volunteering with and running big cat rescues throughout the U.S. My experience includes feeding, special diets, medication administration, insulin injections, enrichment, cleaning, companionship, and closely monitoring each cat’s individual needs and behavior.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is simply being around cats and getting to know their individual personalities. I love earning their trust, giving them affection and companionship, and seeing them become comfortable and happy in my care. Every cat is different, and I truly enjoy learning what makes each kitty feel safe, loved, and content. Knowing that I can give a cat wonderful care and comfort while their family is away brings me so much joy.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my most memorable cat-sitting experiences was caring for Emma while I was living in Kansas on a medical travel contract. Her owner asked me to pet sit while she was away. During her stay, Emma suffered a severe asthma attack. I recognized the emergency, rushed her to an emergency vet, and she required oxygen. Without me there, she may not have survived. When her owner later said she no longer wanted Emma, I brought her back to Florida and fostered her until I found her a loving forever home. Her new mom also had asthma—it truly felt meant to be. Helping save Emma’s life and find her forever home is something I will always treasure. ❤️🐾

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I currently don’t have a kitty of my own. I have spent the past several years traveling for medical contracts and didn’t feel it would be fair to have a cat while traveling so much. Cats deserve stability, consistency, and a loving home. During this time, I have continued working hands-on with rescued tigers and other big cats. I have also had kitties of my own in the past and have rescued, fostered, and cared for countless cats throughout my 26 years of animal-care experience. ❤️🐾

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

My advice is to choose someone who truly loves cats and will treat your kitty like family, not simply someone who is available. Make sure they are reliable, trustworthy, attentive, and willing to follow your cat’s individual routine and care instructions. I also recommend choosing someone with experience recognizing changes in a cat’s behavior or health and who is comfortable handling medications or special needs if necessary. Most importantly, you should feel completely comfortable trusting this person with your home and your beloved kitty while you are away.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to start by getting to know the cat parent and their kitty’s personality, routine, and individual needs. I make sure I understand feeding instructions, medications, litter box routine, favorite activities, behavior, and any special care before the first visit. I also like to know where everything is located and have emergency contact and veterinarian information available. During each visit, I follow the requested routine carefully, give plenty of love and attention, and provide updates and photos so the cat parent knows their kitty is safe, happy, and well cared for.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I take the safety of both the kitty and the home very seriously. I carefully follow all care instructions, make sure doors, windows, and entry points are secure, and never leave doors open or allow a cat to access unsafe areas. I pay close attention to each cat’s behavior and condition and watch for anything unusual that may require attention. I also keep the home clean and secure, respect the owner’s privacy and belongings, and make sure everything is safe and in order before I leave. Most importantly, I treat every home and kitty as if they were my own.

Yes! I am usually available during holidays and am happy to help care for your kitty when you need someone you can trust. ❤️🐾

What is your favorite cat toy?

I would have to say feather toys and catnip-filled toys! 🪶🐾 I love watching cats get excited, playful, and curious, but I also like to let each kitty choose what they enjoy most. Every cat has their own personality and favorite way to play!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I am very patient with timid or anxious cats and never force interaction. I let them approach me on their own terms and give them time to feel comfortable and safe. I use a calm voice, gentle movements, treats, toys, and plenty of patience to build trust. I pay close attention to their body language and respect their personal space. My goal is to make every kitty feel safe, loved, and comfortable while their family is away. ❤️🐾
