I have a 10-year old gray and white cat, named Kitty! She is so special to me and I am so grateful for the bond I have with her.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I ask the cat parent what their expectations are for the cat sitter, such as feeding times, location of cat food, litter box cleaning expectations and supplies. I ask the cat parent about the nature of their cat and what toys the like, if any. We agree on days and times for me to visit, and I send updates while I am there. I send a photo of the cat and if the cat likes to be interacted with, I stay and play with the cat. I always refresh the drinking water, check the litter box, and make sure the inside temperature is comfortable and what the cat owner expects.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I don't force anything. I crouch down, extend my palm out, and stay still as I call to them calmingly. If I inch forward and they flinch, I stay where I am. I always move slowly and may sit in one position for a while. If the cat makes its way over to me, I let them sniff my hand and may slowly try to pet their head with two fingers. If they flinch or run away, I stay still and speak to them encouragingly. I don't speak loudly and try not to startle them at all. I will eventually get up and do my own thing to respect their space and not force the interaction.

Our cats are older, and less inclined to be comfortable with change, and Caroline has been support for them when we're out of town. Not just in filling their bowls and cleaning their litter, but spending time with them, helping them feel cared for and loved. And checking in with us that everything is in its right place. Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
