Cat Sitting in Atlanta, GA
I have previously been a foster mom (2 of my kitties are foster-fails, and the other was rescued) and worked with a small rescue as well as the ASPCA and other groups in Tennessee before I moved to the Atlanta area. I have fostered bottle babies, diabetic and elderly cats, cats with asthma or other special needs, and have had experience with FELV/FIV+ cats as well. I currently have 2 special needs babies of my own who require daily or weekly meds... Hi! I’m Helene! I would love the opportunity to care for your kitties while you’re away! I live in Old 4th Ward, Atlanta with my 3 gorgeous babies: Clapton, Bogey, and Fergus - and my partner, Nick. I’ve always loved cats and have been lucky enough to have them my entire life! I genuinely adore cats of all kinds and look forward to meeting and becoming friends with yours!

I have experience with exotic breeds such as Savannah cats, as well as the smaller Bengals. I’ve cared for long-haired Persians and hairless Sphinxes! I know that every cat has their unique needs and I am more than happy to meet them! I’ve yet to meet a cat I do not love.
When cat-sitting, I defer to the personality of the cat(s) and follow their lead. I am happy to spend my time petting and cuddling them, or just sharing space if that is not their speed. I have one shy kitty, so I know that some cats just like their personal space and will approach when they are comfortable. I also enjoy playing with the more active cats in my life, like my 2 year-old Fergus!
I’m a friendly, laid-back person who truly enjoys sitting with a cat in my lap while reading or studying. I love music, soccer, and travel, as well as cooking and swimming. I can think of very few ways I’d rather spend my free time than with my feline friends.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat sitting for family and friends since I was 11. Our neighbors would leave town frequently and they trusted me to care for their kitties while away. I loved it then and love it now!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I truly enjoy earning the trust of a cat. It’s incredibly special when they begin to relax and really show you their unique personalities! My very favorite part is snuggling and I am happiest with a cat on my lap!
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
Recently, I had an overnight reservation and I was able to sit with the kitties I fostered! They were both so happy to see me again and we spent a lot of time snuggling.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have 3 wonderful kitties who rule my home! Clapton (13) was a bottle-baby who is attached to me 24/7. Bogey (12) is a sweet gentleman who adores pets and laying on our balcony in the sunshine! Fergus (2) is a rescue who is a furry-little wrecking ball and keeps us laughing! They bring so much joy to my life!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Ask questions! I also need a sitter on occasion, so my process is to meet them and show them the space and introduce them to my kitties. I make a Google document with pictures and detailed instructions for care and medications (as well as the WiFi password).
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I start by asking questions about how they care for their cats. I encourage everyone I sit for to make a Google document to which I can refer while I’m caring for their babies. I like to meet with them first and see the spaces the cats own and how they interact with them so I can emulate that while they are away. I meet the kitties and introduce myself so that I’m not a complete stranger invading their space.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I am very vigilant when opening any doors! I also make sure that there is nothing they can get to that could harm them (like cleaning supplies). When I arrive and before I leave, I do a headcount (I do all of this in my own home).
What is your favorite cat toy?
My kitties are in love with this fabric ribbon toy. It’s so much fun to play with! They stalk it and jump around and it is the cutest!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
If a cat is particularly anxious, I share space with them - quietly - in a neutral way by sitting on the floor near them. I will offer treats and pets if they are comfortable with that. I feel that just being around and showing that I am a friend and not a threat is the easiest way to get them to come out of their shells a bit. If they still do not, that’s okay! As long as they are safe and healthy, they can be standoffish and aloof!

Helene was absolutely wonderful! She did twice-daily visits for my two cats, including one who requires multiple medications and insulin injections, and handled everything with such care and professionalism. From her profile and our initial meet-and-greet, it was clear she was very experienced, which immediately put me at ease—especially since this was my first time leaving my diabetic cat with someone new since her diagnosis. She was also incredibly communicative, sending updates and photos after every visit so I always knew how the kitties were doing. On top of that, she was flexible and accommodating when my vacation dates shifted slightly. I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter—highly recommend!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Atlanta cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Helene was amazing to say the least. My cat is typically standoffish and she took to her well at the meet & greet, and each day she visited. I could tell she has experience with cats, and allowed my baby to come to her on her own time. Helene cares so much about every cat. My short haired cat needs intense brushings and when I came home and petted her, I could tell she had been taken well care of. Coat was perfect.
