What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

When working with new cat parents, I start with a meet-and-greet to get to know both the cat and their owner. This allows me to understand the cat’s routine, personality, and any special needs. During this visit, I ask about: • Feeding schedule and dietary preferences • Litter box habits and cleaning routine • Medical needs (medications, vet info, allergies) • Behavioral traits (shy, playful, independent, etc.) • Favorite toys, hiding spots, and comfort items • Emergency contacts and home security details I also encourage cat parents to share any quirks or routines that help their cat feel comfortable. If they feel more at ease, I can send daily updates with photos/videos.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

• Check relevant doors and windows – Before leaving, I ensure everything is secure to prevent escape. • Follow feeding and medication schedules precisely – Consistency keeps cats healthy and comfortable. • Monitor litter box use and behavior – Changes in appetite or bathroom habits can indicate health issues. • Respect home security measures – If the owner has alarms or cameras, I follow their instructions carefully. • Emergency preparedness – I keep the vet’s contact information handy and have a plan in case of emergencies. My priority is to keep both the cat and home safe while providing the best care possible. I treat every home with the same respect and attention as I would my own.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Patience and respect for boundaries are key when working with timid or anxious cats. I follow these steps: • Give them space – I avoid direct eye contact and allow them to approach me on their terms. • Move slowly and quietly – Sudden movements can startle a nervous cat, so I maintain a calm demeanor. • Use scent familiarization – I let them sniff my hand before attempting to pet them. If they seem uneasy, I wait until they’re more comfortable. • Stick to their routine – Keeping their daily schedule consistent helps reduce stress. • Offer enrichment – Gentle play, treats, or interactive toys (if they’re open to it) can help build trust over time. If a cat is extremely anxious, I provide updates to the owner and adjust my approach based on their advice.

Reliable, kind, calm and a natural cat whisperer. I trust very few people with my own animals and home and M is one of the people that I trust implicitly.

She is a very trustworthy and reliable pet sitter. I have known her for many years and I cannot recommend her enough. She is a very caring person and is excellent with my dog who has anxiety and some behavioral issues at times. She is understanding and patient. She is extremely smart and has helped me out with administering medication to my cat when I was out of town. There is truly no one I would trust more than her with my animals!

Frequently Asked Questions

Stone Mountain cat sitting rates will vary based on the pet sitter's experience and expertise, but the average price for a cat sitter is $24.00. Prices will also depend on how long your cat needs company for, whether that be a drop-in visit or overnight stay in your home. Meowtel sitters offer 20, 45, and 60-minute drop-in visits that allow for fully tailored care for your kitties. Your caregiver may also need to charge a little more if they have to travel far, so we'll match you with the best options which are close by.

Every Meowtel cat sitter has been thoroughly vetted, background-checked, and is insured through Meowtel on eligible reservations via our Meowtel Promise. To ensure total peace of mind while you're away, every Meowtel reservation comes with a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can have full confidence in your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress for your kitties. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend that you book daily visits with your sitter to keep your cats in their routine and to help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each Meowtel cat sitting visit will include the whole 9 yards: feeding, refreshing the water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, as well as any special requests you may have. We know every kitty is different and that's why we offer tailored, in-home services since cats don't do well outside their own homes. Plus, every reservation comes with a free Meet & Greet so you can meet your sitter before you leave to ensure it will be a purrfect fit.
