What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been caring for my own cats and family and friend's cats for decades. I've often traded cat care duties with good neighbors. This always seems to work out well becausewe most likely already know neighbors' animals and because often times if emergency care is needed we are just steps away. Sometimes, especially with one of my daughter's cats, I have found it easier and better for him to bring him to my home where there are other pets rather than traveling to their home where he would be all alone without his family. My experience is that many cats really like their people, especially when the are used to a busy family. Sometimes when they are left ALL alone, they can become a little anxious, which can lead to poor behaviors or even health problems. Happy cat, happy life. For both the cat and the caretaker.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I was gifted my first cat was when I was 8 years old. He was a Siamese cat named Sam. I also had cats and kittens when I became a mother, so my children could learn to enjoy the company of cats. First, I had a second Siamese cat named Poco. He lived to be 14. We also acquired a mitten kitten, named Mittens, who had six baby kitten in a box in my son's closet! Our next cat came into our family after he was found riding under my parent's car. We named him Corkie, he was an avid indoor and outdoor cat. As he grew up, so did my children. They were off to the Navy and college, and Corkie moved with me from Iowa to Colorado and back to Iowa. My last two cats were Scooter and Dolly, farm cats that I bottle-fed after their mom deserted them.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to have a Meet and Greet with a prospective cat and their parent before we decide to work together. I feel it is very important to have my first introduction with a cat be in the presence of their parent. We'll talk about their kitty, their habits and schedule, likes and dislikes, feeding instructions, any health issues, emergency contact information, and how the cat parent would like communication to take place while I am caring for their kitty.

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
