I'm on the NW side and prefer to keep travel to no more than 20 minutes, but I'm close to public transit and also have a car.
I'm happy to send pictures of your kitties while you are away; I know that always gives me peace of mind when traveling. One of my favorite pastimes is admiring cats in windows when I'm out for a walk in my neighborhood (Albany Park) and I hope I get to meet your cats too!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been officially sitting for Meowtel since July 2022. I have had cats off and on my whole life, and was also a Kitty City Level 2 volunteer at Paws Chicago for 5 years.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Meeting so many awesome cats! My phone is filled with pictures of so many of my fur buddies, many of whom I get to see again and again!
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
This is sad, but I had a long time kitty client, named Creature, who recently crossed the rainbow bridge. Her mom travels a lot for work, so I got to see Creature many, many times over the last 3 years. She was a sweet elderly calico, a bit deaf, and I loved her dearly. Her health went downhill this summer, but she continued to be the sweetest baby. Her mom invited me to come say goodbye to her one last time on her last day, and it was very special. I held her and told her how much I loved her. I feel very lucky that I got to know Creature because of Meowtel.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Jerome T. Mousenik, Esq, hes a Russian Blue adopted from Paws and Charlie Girl, a Tuxedo, who was a feral TNR cat in my neighborhood that I befriended, who is now the best little housekitty!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I get down low so I am not so tall and scary, and I speak in a soft voice. I'll offer some treats if they have them. I respect that they might need to hide and never force an interaction.

Suzanne is an AMAZING cat sitter!! We have a high needs cat and she took excellent care of him. She gave him his daily medicine (twice a day, in fact) and monitored his litter box use and food intake. Her communication was off the charts great. She sent photos and updates and made sure we knew his health status. Hudson is a tad prickly and she absolutely warmed his grouchy little heart. We will hire her again! Suzanne was a life saver to help with my two kitties while I was away from home for two weeks. My cats are used to me bugging them almost 24-7, so I had some anxiety for leaving them any amount of time. immediately, I felt better after the initial touch base visit, where I was able to go through the particular needs of each cat, since they’re very different from one another, but both a little needy for attention. Great experience, will use again in future 100%!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
