I had cats growing up and my current kitty companion is Vader. My long-time love for cats led me to the PAWS Chicago Medical Center Cat Care Team. My experiences in both volunteering and fostering have given me valuable insights into cats of all sorts such as bottle babies, senior cats, timid cats, and kitties who just required a little extra care. It was also with PAWS where I learned to understand cat behavior, health, medicine administrations, and the art of creating a stress-free, comforting environment for them, all of which make me confident and ready to care for your furry family member in... Hi there! I'm Cara, hopefully your new cat sitter.

With my own cat Vader, I understand the feeling of leaving them for an extended period of time and wanting them taken care of and stress free. Whether it's a play session, a cozy cuddle, or just a calming presence, my priority is making your kitty feel content during your absence. Your cat's happiness and well-being are my top priorities, and I am ready to provide them with all the love, care, and comfort they need so both you and your kitty can relax during your time apart.
I work full-time as an MRI instructor and do Meet and Greet's via Zoom to go over instructions and answer any questions you may have about myself or your reservation.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love getting to meet and interact with different cats and to see all their different personalities. I also love sending all the cute photo updates to my clients during a reservation. They always love getting photos of their furry family members and I like being able to put their minds at ease while they are away.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
It is hard to pick just one as I've had so many great cats to watch! One that still sticks with me is a client had two cats, one of which was super shy, and they didn't expect me to see her at all during the reservation. To both our surprises though, she was out and about with me by the end of the very first day! It made both my client and myself feel at ease knowing she was comfortable and relaxed enough to come and hang out.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
With my experience at PAWS as well as cat sitting, I have learned to let the cat initiate and control the interaction to the level they are comfortable with. Whether it be watching me from across the room, a few sniffs, or nothing at all, it's all up to the kitty and that's completely fine!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!

Cara was absolutely incredible - this was our best catsitting experience ever! Very thoughtful with the updates and responsive, super caring with our two cats, and importantly gave us a level of peace of mind when travelling I never get. 10/10! I should also add, our cats are very shy/anxious and often don’t show up at all when new people show up. With Cara, it only took a day or two and they were around and socializing. Amazing!

I honestly can’t say enough nice things about Cara! 😻One thing I thought was really cool, was that she wanted to meet via zoom beforehand. It’s stressful to go to someone’s home, sight unseen. And it’s also stressful as a cat mom, to have a stranger come into your home as well. Cara made a point of coming and meeting my kitties beforehand… And I wasn’t worried about them at all, while I was away. She sent me adorable photos every day, and was very upfront and honest as to when she would be with them.
