I'm Kate
Cat Sitting in Chicago, IL
I’m a lifelong cat guru. I grew up in an animal shelter and have cared for hundreds of cats. I love them very much and everyone knows it. The silly tuxedo kitty above is my daughter, Emory. I scooped her as a teeny, squealing kitten from a storm drain on the 4th of July, 2019—and she’s been a clingy little pumpkin ever since.
Growing up, my family always rescued and fostered animals and my parents continue to do so on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia—kitty paradise. With friends' pets, I'm the one who the notoriously standoff-ish cat walks up to purring, and friends say, "(shocked) They never do that for anyone!" So you could, indeed, say I'm a cat whisperer of sorts. I know sitters aren't typically vet techs but I'm extremely used to caring for pets with special medical needs and know all the signs and symptoms of when something's wrong.
A little more background:

A little more background:
I have a bachelor's degree in urban planning/photography/medical illustration as well as post-baccalaureate bio-med coursework. I worked for years as a home-care aide to [human] geriatric patients and also took care of their houses/pets while completing biomed coursework. I’m very used to following detailed instructions when it comes to household needs.
Anyway,
I had planned on going to med school long ago until my more creative endeavors took over. I've been sustaining as a voice over actor but the industry is becoming more and more saturated so I'm looking for something to supplement—and working with animals is ideal for me anyway.
A couple years ago, I came to Chicago to attend The Second City Conservatory. I'm now focusing more on writing and training for another healthcare program. I'm also at the age where I have no interest in going out and really keep to myself aside from performing occasionally. I don't drink or smoke.
I'd be glad to send anyone my résumé(s) and social media. I can also provide references including my former supervisor from my home-care aide days. I have a couple résumés; one for performance and one with more typical job/medical experience so you can get the full scope of me as a person.
Many thanks and I hope to meet you and your kitties!
- Kate
P.s. I live a relatively “crunchy” home life — with non-toxic products (probably to an unnecessary extent), so I usually carry non-toxic/pet-friendly sponges/soap and automatically err on the au-naturale side in general when it comes to clean-ups, etc. —- just in case, unless instructed otherwise.
P.p.s. I’m fully COVID vaccinated/boosted and more than willing to wear a mask anywhere/anytime.

Kate accepted my reservation the day before I needed her to come twice a day for four days, due to a cancellation I had from a boarding place because their insurance would no longer allow them to inject insulin. She had zero problems with the insulin and other medication both my cats needed, and made sure they both ate all their required food. She also reported on litter box contents and usage (bagging everything incredibly well - we didn't smell a thing), left every single cat dish and item sparkling clean, spent time just sitting and playing with them, and sent multiple photos, videos, and notes each day. I look forward to booking her again!

Kate was absolutely wonderful with my newly diabetic cat Gus. My apartment was just as I left it and I could tell that my fur baby had been well cared for. Kate left me detailed notes (with videos and photos) to let me know how the visit was with Gus. Additionally, Kate is quick to respond to messages so we were able to get things scheduled quickly. Couldn't recommend Kate more for her cat services.

I have two high-maintenance cats (emotionally and medically) and they loved her and clearly trusted her (I could tell by the pictures and how they were when I got home). Kate also went above and beyond (i.e. cleaned my sheets, cleaned in general) and was so sweet! She clearly knows her way with cats, genuinely cares, and it's relieving to have someone like that watch my cats I will definitely be going to her in the future!!

I would definitely use Kate again. She went above and beyond by cleaning after our cat babies in the kitchen as well as liter. The cat food and water with ice was refreshed and clean. One of our cats is shy and needed extra attention. Kate took care of her. I believe our cat was looking for Kate even after I returned home. I cannot say enough about how reliable and caring Kate was with our cats.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!

Kate did a wonderful job looking after my boy Louis! She was on time, prepared, and attentive when it came to our first meet and greet. Each day I was sent notes, pictures, and videos from each visit that detailed everything she did. It was very helpful and so appreciated! I can’t thank her enough!
