What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been a cat sitter for friends for over two years while they have been out of town for extended periods of time. In addition to helping friends, I currently spend a lot of time with my partner and her cat and have spent two to three years in households with cats.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love that cats are so well mannered. I love that they enjoy play but are also very comfortable relaxing nearby. Overall, I enjoy how balanced and calming cat sitting can be. But also, who doesn’t like to snuggle up with a cat ☺️
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Every cat has their needs and habits so prior to our meet and greet please keep these things in mind so we can discuss anything that stands out. Accidents happen while an owner is away from their cat so it’s helpful for me to know where your cleaning supplies are located in your home and where to take out trash.

Loreto was wonderful! He took care of Daffy on an overnight stay lasting a week. The whole time he was communicative, kind, and patient with my girl. She can be quite shy with meeting new friends, but he took the time to understand her needs and boundaries. Loreto even took a photo of her favorite toy to make sure he remembered it! It can be difficult being away from our furry friends for so long, but he made it a lot easier ☺️

Loreto was great! What really stood out is that he paid attention to all the extra little details that other sitters have missed (he cleaned up spills, washed the food dishes, took out the garbage so the house didn't smell when I returned from a trip, etc.). Loreto went above and beyond to make sure my cats had a clean, happy environment!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

It's very clear that Loreto has a very sincere and warm love for cats. In particular, my cat, a 7 year old male orange tabby, has felt that love and gives it right back! Loreto has acknowledged the time and care it takes for him to earn my cat's trust while respecting my cat's boundaries. While he regularly and thoroughly checks on my cat's basic needs such as food, water, and litter box, he's learned when my cat wants play and cuddle time as well as "just being in the same room" time, giving my cat just the right amount of attention he needs while I'm away. Loreto is very responsive and thorough with his communication and even sent me cute pictures and videos of my cat for me to look at during my vacation! It was very reassuring to see my cat doing well while I was away and being in the care of someone so kind. Loreto will definitely be my go-to for the next time I need a cat-sitter, and my cat would also be very happy to have him over~
