Hi Feline family! I'm a long time cat owner and sitter. I love building a relationship with the variety of cat personalities I meet. I had a cat visit who took almost a month before he came near me. I'm a long time cat owner and sitter. I love building a relationship with the variety of cat personalities I meet. I had a cat visit who took almost a month before he came near me. But that was OK. I made sure he felt safe and kept him fed and watered. I turned on the British Baking Show, because that's what his mom would do. My goal is to make life as normal as possible while cat parents/family is away.
I look around for safety and security concerns in the living space at each visit. This is a priority for me regardless of where I'm at! I'll send regular pix and updates, as well as any questions I may have regarding your family member and their environment.

Learn More About Nan

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I've been cat sitting since 2020. However, I've had cats in my life since my youth. I have experience with injections, hydration IV, oral and topical medications. If something doesn't seem right with your cat, I will ask. I helped one owner discover her cat had diabetes by the way the kitty was walking. I believe each cat communicates differently, but knowing symptoms of Feline problems is also important and I take it seriously.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Building a relationship with each kitty! Some are social, some cautious. I like to sit and let them tell me about their life in their environment. I'm a guest. When I get a brush from a tail or a head butt... I'm thrilled!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

Wow! So many to choose from. I think my most successful and satisfying reservation was the cat I mentioned earlier, who would hiss and hide until, weeks later he finally trusted that I was safe and worthy of his attention. He was just a very attached cat and had his own pace about adjusting. Don't we all?!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Help the sitter understand your cat and your needs through communication and preparation. The easier it is to access the space and the supplies, the more time I can spend reassuring, cuddling and playing with your furry family.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I plan to consistently communicate both success and concerns in order to best meet the needs of my families. I'm happy to connect in person, on the phone or by text/email. I'm happy to answer questions anytime!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I make sure I have the information about the location ahead of time. I check doors and windows to be sure all are secure so kitties don't get out to an unsafe situation. I also make sure there isn't any water running that isn't specified by the owner! On my first visit I make sure I have all the supplies need for all planned visits. I dbl. check the door is secured as I leave.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes!! My holidays are very flexible. If I have plans that might interfere I will make sure it is on the calendar that I'm not available at that time.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Feather on a line and catnip bubbles! I occasionally use a laser but cats can get frustrated with these because they never actually capture anything, which is their reason for playing! Videos on YouTube are very helpful too!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I'm very, very patient with all cats, but especially the shy or anxious beings. I've had several experiences where the cat was more of a ghost! I sit quietly. I may turn on music or the TV to make the space as normal as possible. I had one cat come out briefly because I played the piano, like their family member did! Otherwise, if they're eating food and treats and drinking water, I generally don't force a relationship.

Nan was wonderful! Our cats are extremely shy, but she was incredibly patient and genuinely committed to helping them feel safe and comfortable. Communication was great, everything was exactly as we agreed. We felt completely at ease knowing our cats were in such good hands. We would absolutely recommend Nan and would be happy to work with her again.

Nan was a dream to work with. Our pack of 5 cats loved having her visit. She was prompt in her responses, helpful while we were away with bringing in packages, highly communicative, and sent plenty of pictures to confirm wellbeing. Would work with her again!

Nan was very kind when we met to introduce the cats and exchange keys. My usually unsociable cat let Nan pet her and my social cat took to her right away. Nan made sure the cats were fed, watered and littler boxes were clean. I would definitely hire her again.

Nan was amazing! We did a walkthrough together and I can tell she has a lot of experience with cats and wanting them to feel comfortable. She always sent me pictures during her visit and kept me updated so while I was away I knew all was taken care of. Will definitely use Nan again if we need a cat sitter again! :)

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
