I'm Nicholle

Cat Sitting in Chicago, IL

I'm your friendly tattooed cat sitter with over 18 years’ experience! I have worked in the pet care industry since 2007 and feel that I have a good understanding of what pet parents want. I have 12 years of experience doing in-home pet sitting across different apps. Additionally, I have experience in vet care, including vet assisting, administering medications, post-surgery recovery, and I am CPR and First Aid certified. Administering medications (including insulin), subcutaneous fluids, or time sensitive doses is no problem for me. I've worked with canines and felines of all life stages, as well as rodents, reptiles, and birds.

In my spare time, I foster kittens, mostly taking on the neonatal "bottle babies" that require feeding throughout the night. In a typical year, I may foster 20-30 animals, and I work with several rescues to focus on their most critical (and youngest!) population. My Meowtel income helps fund this rewarding yet expensive foster hobby...

In my spare time, I foster kittens, mostly taking on the neonatal "bottle babies" that require feeding throughout the night. In a typical year, I may foster 20-30 animals, and I work with several rescues to focus on their most critical (and youngest!) population. My Meowtel income helps fund this rewarding yet expensive foster hobby. I own five cats, acquired through my years working in rescue, whom I love very much.

During my sit I work to keep your pet comfortable and active through regular exercise and play, and lots of snuggling. If you have a shy cat, I am happy to just sit and talk or read to them calmly to attempt to build trust. I believe there is no such thing as being too safe and I am a bit compulsive about checking and rechecking keys and locked doors. When I care for your pet, I adhere strictly to all feeding instructions and do not give additional treats or human food without permission. I strive to keep my clients’ homes clean and have adopted a "leave no trace" policy for my pet sits so that you can arrive home with one less thing to worry about. Earning my clients’ trust means a lot to me, and I will go out of my way to deliver the best experience possible.

Outside of pet care and fostering I enjoy video games, reading books, and going to concerts. I am a big fan of the game Stray in which you get to be a stray cat navigating a city. I love to dye my hair fun colors and am very easy to spot in a crowd.

I would love the opportunity to meet you and your pet, and look forward to making new furry friends soon!

Learn More About Nicholle

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting professionally for 17 years. I have cared for cats of various ages, breeds, and temperaments with varying medical needs. I also hand rear orphaned kittens in my spare time, which has given me an even greater knowledge of cat care. I have also worked in veterinary settings to learn about feline health and behavior, and helped to create behavior modification plans for adoptable pets.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy bonding with a cat and being the beacon of comfort when their human is away. Getting to know a shy cat and building trust with them is one of the greatest feelings in the world! Happy cats = happy cat parents, and that makes me happy too!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I have a regular client who has been with me through the lives of three different cats. I started out sitting for them in 2017. After their senior cat passed, they kept me in mind for when they adopted a new cat and needed care for him. They recently adopted a kitten as well, and it has been amazing to watch their little family grow and to know that they trust me to care for all of their kitties.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have five kitties: Ghoast, Spyrit, Nyx, Sol, and Noodle. All of my kitties were adopted as "foster failures" through the various rescues that I work with. Nyx and Noodle are kittens from two different litters that I hand raised after they were brought in to the pound without a mother.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Ask a lot of questions and leave as many notes as you want! We sitters are ALWAYS happy to talk to you about cats and excited to tell you about our experience. Never feel bad about leaving detailed notes as that helps us to stay in your routine as close as possible, which makes things easier for kitty.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to answer questions about availability through the app and go over finer details during the meet and greet. If a client does not have time for a meet and greet, I am happy to go over notes on the phone. If I am not able to visit a home before the sit starts, I ask the client to send me pictures of where the key items (litter box, food, etc) are located so that I have a feel for things.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I double and triple check keys before entering and exiting the house, and treat every cat as though they are an escape artist. I always check around the door before entering and exiting, and do not leave the door open for any period of time.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! Holidays are when sitters are needed most, so I try to make myself available to as many pet parents as I can.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My cats and I love a toy called Da Bird and they will chase it until we are ALL tired.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

If a cat is timid I try to spend my visit talking calmly to them and giving them lots of praise. I would never attempt to pet a cat who is not interested, but may offer my hand to the cat to sniff if they look open to the idea. Sometimes, just sitting and talking to the cat during visits is enough to get them curious about meeting me. The comfort of kitty is key, and I try to focus on consent when it comes to interactions.

Nicholle was phenomenal! She was diligent and timely with each of her visits. I have a very bashful cat and she was able to get him out of his shell and socializing with her. Nicholle is detail-oriented and provides excellent service. Her updates were wonderful and made me feel very good leaving the boys in her care!

Nikki was fantastic! Very communicative, thorough, and engaging with my boys. The best part is that my long haired cat was the best 'kept' he's ever been after a long vacation, she brushed him regularly and it showed!

This month

Nicholle was so wonderful to work with from start to finish! She was caring and attentive for our kitty cat. We felt so comforted knowing she was checking in on him everyday while we were out of town. And got some adorable pictures of him that are now going in his permanent collection! I could tell Mozart was so happy to have her there and we will definitely be booking with Nicholle again. Thank you!

I could not say better things about Nicholle. She was great with both cats, and even our very shy cat warmed up and came out after she had watched them a few days. Nicholle was quick to message, send lovely updates and pictures of the cats. Would definitely book with her again.

Nicholle was a great sitter! It was my first time getting a sitter for my two kittens and I felt so comfortable leaving them in great hands. Nicholle's updates made my day and she's very mindful of how the kittens are doing (eating, litter, demeanor). Highly recommend!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
