I am comfortable with chronic conditions (my girl has chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and irritable bowel... Hey there! My name is Kirstin and I think all cats are purrfect. I have lived in Chicago for 20 years and have been the solo parent of a beautiful tortoiseshell kitty named Luna Ratatouille for 18.5 of them. I care for all cats the way I care for my own- diligently, observantly, mindfully, intuitively, responsively, respectfully, and, if they let me, affectionately!
I am comfortable with chronic conditions (my girl has chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and irritable bowel disease) and have dealt with various food allergies, mystery skin conditions, and pancreatitis in the past- which also means that I have experience dosing medication both orally and topically. I am often told that the reason my girl has lived so long is due to my extra attention and care, and you can expect nothing less from me while watching your babies.
I live on the north side of the city and primarily work from home with a variable schedule and my own vehicle, meaning I can be flexible with you when planning for fur friend visits.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have watched friends cats on-and-off for about 13 years and recently started with Meowtel! In the past I've been a shelter volunteer at both PAWS and PPAH (Precious Pets Almost Home), the latter of which housed kitties at local Petco's across the city. Additionally, I have acted as transport for cats that needed to be flown post-natural disaster to reunite with their owner(s).
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Cat patterns and purrs. I love meeting cats of all kinds, and my favorite cat quality is that each of their meows is different!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Hire a cat lover- and use Meowtel! Really, though, as a client myself, I love that the entire focus is on cats. Dogs are lovely too, but so much of the "pet sitting" world revolves around boarding dogs and doesn't pay as much attention to kitties!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
Virtual introduction, of course, and then an in-person meet & greet with you and your kitties, ideally a few days before you leave to ensure everything is ready and we are all comfortable.

We had such a great experience with Kirstin! She is clearly a cat lover; Franklin felt comfortable with her right away. Kirstin sent us updates and photos every day of Franklin's activities and their snuggles together. It was obvious Franklin was happy and well cared for—we’re not even sure he missed us! It was MUCH easier to be gone knowing he was in such good hands.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
