What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been pet sitting professionally for 14 years. I was a brand ambassador for Nulo, Royal canin, Iams, and Eukanuba when it was still owned by Fred Iams. In the last 40 years I've personally owned four cats. All have lived to their late teens into their twenties. My emphasis is always their diet, filtered, water, and non-toxic toys and litter, and regular visits at the vet.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
I know that it can be nerve-wracking to hire somebody to take care of the most vulnerable member of your family. What I always suggest, is that you hire them while you're away at work or you're out at dinner or shopping. Hire them while you're in town that way you're not far from your home.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
Coming prepared with pen and paper asking important questions about the security of the home while pet parents are away. What it is that the cat is afraid of allergic to or needs to stay away from? Making sure the pet parents have all my contact information and that I have theirs. Keeping in constant communication where I never let the ball drop. Pet parents never have to wonder about anything because I have excellent follow-up and protocol procedures.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I never fully open a door when I walk in. I keep my foot in the crack as I walk in and one hand making sure I keep the cat back from escaping. I make sure the door is locked behind me as well as sliding glass doors and I don't let the cats go anywhere they're not supposed to. I make sure there's no water leaks,that the temperature in the rooms is comfortable, and that the kitties have the water and the food necessary to sustain them until the next visit. I make sure lights are turned on and off at the right times so that there is an appearance of people being at home.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes I available during holidays and I do administer medications as long as they can be mixed in the food.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I never try to coax them out or try to carry them. I make sure I don't make any loud noises and I speak in a very calming nurturing tone so they can get used to my voice. I give them their space and allow them to come to me.

Yvette watched our two kittens for 11 days while we were on a cruise. We were very concerned about leaving them but Yvette quickly eased our concerns. She was very professional and followed up on everything we asked her to do. She sent us pictures from every session with the kittens and thus allowed us to enjoy our time away from them without worrying.

We are so excited to have found Yvette! We recently moved to the area with two older cats that have never lived anywhere else, but the home they were born in. Needless to say, the trauma of the move almost put them over the edge! And then, as things were just starting to get a little routine, we were going on vacation and leaving them behind in their strange new world. That's when Yvette stepped in and saved our lives! We are so thrilled to have found her. She is completely reliable and is a natural born "cat whisperer". Every day we were comforted with photos and updates, and the cats seemed comfortable around her right from the start. Our minds were at ease the entire time we were away! You can't put a price on that! Trust me, don't look any further. She knows what she's doing and she's excellent at it!

In over 40 years of providing customer feedback, I've perhaps made on-line/written comment but a handful of times. This is one of those few exceptions. Yvette is simply fantastic. She has this process wired, and when I leave Tank and Ramona in her hands, I know she'll treat them as well or better than I do. So, if you are looking for someone to take care of your "other children," then go no further than her! You won't be disappointed.....

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Peoria cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $21.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
