Ellery's Purrfect Cat Sitting In Wichita

I'm Ellery

Cat Sitting in Wichita, KS

I've lived with cats all my life. From as far back as I can remember, my family always had at least one cat and we all took part in caring for them. After a few years of living on my own while struggling with finding my footing as a young adult, life got quite lonely.

I missed the companionship I had while growing up around several pets, and so in 2021 I got my first rescue cat, Goose.
I lost him in June this year to a sudden and severe case of FIP. After a week of vet visits, including rushing him to a specialist several hours away for a hopefully life-saving treatment, he was in too much pain and just declining too fast.
Despite each vet (including the top FIP specialist in Kansas) who told me that no one could've responded quicker than I did, that it wasn't my fault, etc., this loss has gutted me.
I never imagined that I'd only have Goose for 3 years. He was about 8 years old.

Goose was a beautiful, talkative Maine Coon mix who loved to stick close to me whenever I was home...

Despite each vet (including the top FIP specialist in Kansas) who told me that no one could've responded quicker than I did, that it wasn't my fault, etc., this loss has gutted me.
I never imagined that I'd only have Goose for 3 years. He was about 8 years old.

Goose was a beautiful, talkative Maine Coon mix who loved to stick close to me whenever I was home. He knew that whenever I was around, he would get the loving care he needed and he could (and did!) always ask for more playtime, brushing sessions, etc. Since Goose was also curious about the outdoors, I trained him to walk outside on a leash so he could explore while staying safe from traffic and other animals.

Since then, I've adopted my current companion and "funny little bug," Moose. I got him from Wichita Animal Action League a few months after losing Goose. I don't necessarily believe in fate, but Moose was named by WAAL, and other factors in his situation made me decide to keep the name.
He loves to go outside at night on a leash and harness, and even comes running to the front door when I ask "go for walk?" If I ever have the money and floor space to get talking buttons (like those FluentPet ones shown on YouTube) for Moose, I'm sure he'd be unstoppable.

My standards of care for my own cats are what will guide me in caring for any of yours: careful attention to individual needs, patience, consistent feeding times, daily grooming, daily cleanup, consistent exercise, lots of playtime, plenty of rest time, and a cozy environment that makes a cat feel safe.

Currently, I'm generally available as a weekend cat sitter on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings. I may also be able to take short jobs Monday through Friday between 11 AM and 3 PM, or earlier than 11 AM upon request. Please message me if you have questions about my availability for a specific day or hour, as this may change seasonally.

If you have any COVID-related concerns, I will be happy to wear a KN95 mask during the duration of my time caring for your cat(s). I am fully vaccinated but I understand that's not always enough to keep absolutely everyone safe, so I can also take a rapid test before my visit upon request.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I had my first cat, Goose, for 3 years. I lost him to a sudden and severe case of FIP in 2024. My current companion is Moose, who I adopted from the local volunteer rescue organization WAAL (Wichita Animal Action League). I also have several "part-time" outdoor cats - strays who show up almost every night for dinner. Each year I help to coordinate vet services/socialization/adoption processes for them, especially during the spring.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I'm available on the day of most federal holidays, but may have schedule restrictions in December due to my main job having longer hours seasonally.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Wichita cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $23.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
