In general when being with new cats, I always follow a cat’s lead to make sure I’m mirroring their behavior and adapting to their personalities. Whether that means tons of cuddles, high energy playtime, or just giving them some space. I’m... Cats are quite truly the best little creatures alive. When my family got our cats, Squimpy and Chowder, I completely fell in love. They bring me the most joy, smiles, and laughs.
In general when being with new cats, I always follow a cat’s lead to make sure I’m mirroring their behavior and adapting to their personalities. Whether that means tons of cuddles, high energy playtime, or just giving them some space. I’m flexible and appreciate how each cat has their own unique vibe:)
I know how stressful it can feel to leave your pets, so I want to promise to give you reassurance by sending lots of updates and pictures, being honest about how they’re doing, and treating them with the same love and care I give my own.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy meeting all the new cats and seeing how each one has their own personalities. I love just being with cats in general and being in their presence, even if we aren’t cuddling or super affectionate, just being around them is super comforting to have a little friend around. I also love forming bonds with the new cats and becoming friends and watching them start to warm up to you is always super awesome:)
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes my kitties names are Squimpy and Chowder! We got squimpy first and she’s about 4 now. Shes a tuxedo cat & the queen of my family for sure. She loves looking outside all day and loves eating. Then we got Chowder who’s 2. She’s a little while girl and somehow thin but also a chonk. She just wants to play and be best friends with squimpy… but unfortunately squimpy does not want the same. While they tolerate each other, they definitely aren’t the best of friends. I love playing with them and just chilling :)
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Always follow their lead! I’m totally okay with slowly getting comfortable with each other. My own cats are pretty shy so I know to act calm and be patient.

Olivia was amazing with my shy girl Nami! She totally managed to get my little girl out of her shell and was a total trooper coming to my apartment in the middle of a snowstorm and freezing temps! her updates were amazing and I felt really safe leaving my baby with her.

Olivia is our primary sitter. For how fearful and shy our kitties are, they eventually came out and ate from Olivia's hand. They've definitely come to trust her, which is big deal. We've had our kitties for more than two years, and they still won't really let us near them, so for them to warm up to a sitter is pretty awesome. Every day we get tons of updates, pictures and reports on our kitties from Olivia, and her updates are always full of excitement! This is why we continue to hire her to care for our kitties.

Olivia has experience with extremely shy kitties, which was what we needed in a sitter. Our shy kitties didn't come out, not surprisingly, but Olivia was very patient, quiet and calm with them -- she made them feel safe enough that one of them poked her head out, which was pleasantly unusual for a stranger on the first meet! We came home and the kitties were back to normal very quickly. They clearly were not traumatized. We're definitely booking Olivia again!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Dorchester cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
