During my visits, I'll feed your cat, change their water, scoop their litter, and provide snuggles and/or playtime (depending on what they're in the mood for)... Hi! My name is Amelia, and I absolutely love cats! Over my 10 years of experience as a catsitter, I've taken care of cats with various personalities, special needs, and quirks. I have experience with cats of all ages, including kittens, adult cats, and elderly kitties. I'm also experienced with administering oral medications, applying ointments, giving ear drops, keeping wounds clean, and putting cones on and removing them as needed. Some of my favorite sits have been with cats who are a little timid, and I'm happy to give your cats all the time they need to warm up and feel comfortable around me.
During my visits, I'll feed your cat, change their water, scoop their litter, and provide snuggles and/or playtime (depending on what they're in the mood for). I love spending time playing with cats and making sure they get enrichment and lots of attention during each visit. I prioritize reliable care that responds to your cat's needs and personality!
I currently have one cat of my own, a 6-month-old kitten named Clover. She is high-energy and absolutely loves to play. As a cat owner, I know how stressful it can be to leave your kitties while traveling, and I aim to alleviate some of that stress by providing frequent updates, photos, and quick responses while you're away. I know that these things put my mind at ease when I'm traveling without Clover!
I'm available for catsitting throughout Cambridge, Somerville, and nearby areas. I am especially flexible for visits near Porter and Davis Square. I have consistent availability for drop-ins on both the weekdays and weekends, although I cannot do afternoon visits Monday through Wednesday. I am also available and experienced at providing overnight visits for cats who need a little more care and attention. What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
When working with a new cat parent, I like to start by getting some essential information from them via the Meowtel chat, including the dates of the reservation, their cat's needs, and what length of visit they prefer. Then, we can set up an in-person meet-and-greet so I can meet their cats and we can hand off the keys! During the meet-and-greet I review important information with my clients, including what they're looking for in a sitter and their expectations, their cat's personality, and any special needs their cat may have. I typically take notes during these meetings as well! We also talk about their preferred communication method and anything specific they want me to provide updates on.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I think it's important to give timid cats the time they need to warm up! I am a very patient sitter, and am happy to spend a little extra time with a cat so they feel comfortable with me in the house. I think the key is letting each cat adjust at their own pace, and paying attention to body language and responding properly. I find that letting a cat come to me, coaxing them gently with treats and toys, and soft talking generally seems to work best. I've sit for several cats who have been nervous around me at first, but then ended up cuddling in my lap by the end of my visits!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Somerville cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
