What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been freelance cat sitting for the better part of the last five years. It started with caring for friends cats while they were away and then gradually evolved by word of mouth to a growing roster of repeat clients.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to meet and interact with loads of different cats and help support the humans who love them. Cat people are my people!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, I have one cat who happily lives with two other cats. My cat’s name is Cowcat because of the pattern of his coat. My housemate’s cats are two large Norweigen Forest Cats named Spike and Clem. And yes! they are named after Buffy the Vampire Slayer characters.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, and weekends too! I’m here to support you and your pet(s) while you are away. Please reach out in advance of major holidays so by the time they come around you can have peace of mind that your pet(s) will be comfortable and cared for. If for some reason you are unable to do so, I offer my services with a small rush fee.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Each cat has their own personality and comfort level with new folks but I often like to start by allowing them to observe me and get used to my vibe. Once they see that I am safe to approach I like to let them do so on their own terms. I find that bringing calm, confident energy tends to soothe particularly anxious cats. A friend and regular of mine has a very timid cat named Sushi. I often cat sit her for extended periods of time along with her older, more outgoing brother Iggy. Her owner warned me that I would likely only see her at feeding times and that she would probably not hang out in common spaces during my stay. After a few stays, Sushi began to warm up to me and sit with me on the couch. Later she even started to play with me.

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
