What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to know each cat as an individual. Some greet you at the door, while others take a few days before they’re ready to say hello. Seeing a timid cat slowly become curious, ask for pets, or curl up nearby is one of the most rewarding parts of cat sitting.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to start with a meet-and-greet, either in person or FaceTime, so I can learn about your cat’s routine, preferences, personality, and any special care requirements. During visits, I follow your instructions closely while also paying attention to your cat’s behavior and well-being. I provide regular updates and photos so you know how your cat is doing while you’re away. If I notice something is off, like low appetite, signs of pain or nausea, or abnormal litter box activity, I’ll let you know so you can make an informed decision about your cat’s care. My goal is to keep your cat’s routine as consistent and stress-free as possible.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I carefully follow all instructions regarding doors, windows, feeding routines, medications, and household access. I’m attentive to potential hazards and always double-check that cats remain safely indoors and secure before leaving. I always assume a cat is indoors only unless I’m explicitly told otherwise. I monitor behavior, appetite, water intake, and litter box habits throughout the sit and communicate any concerns right away. I treat every home with respect and every cat as if they were my own.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I believe trust is earned, not rushed. Every cat has a different comfort level, so I never force interactions or expect them to warm up on my timeline. I pay close attention to body language and let each cat set the pace, whether that means playing, accepting treats, sitting quietly nearby, or simply giving them the space they need. My goal is for your cat to feel safe, respected, and as relaxed as possible while you’re away.
