As mentioned, I have experience in cat sitting for friends, where I have provided attentive, loving care for my kitty charges, while maintaining routines, as well as respecting the overall needs of the household (e.g. removing shoes, washing out/recycling food receptacles, and properly disposing of litterbox waste). I am also passionate about creating a calm, enriched environment where my kitty charges feel safe, happy, and well cared for in their owners’ absence. A few examples of this would be providing ample play time, washing food bowls before feedings, and refreshing water bowls.
Lastly, I have experience in administering oral (liquid and pills), and topical medications, as well as inhalers.. I am also familiar with auto-cleaning litterboxes, and have some troubleshooting abilities for models such as the Meowant and the Litter Robot.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have several years of experience being the "spare human" 🤭 for a family friend when they are out of town. I have also been sitting for Meowtel for about 1.25yrs.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
In the words of my best friend: "I get to be a 'crazy cat lady' without really being one." 😂 I love cats, but I don't think my two babies would enjoy anymore additions to our family, so taking care of other kitties fulfills my enthusiasm.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Currently, I am a kitty parent of an 8 year old Snow Bengal named Sayuri and a 1 year old Red Abyssinian named Kiku.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
When entering the home, I am sure to enter slowly and minimize any opportunities for kitty to be able to sneak out if they are known for escape attempts. Before leaving, I make sure kitty is accounted for and not accidentally closed in a closet or cabinet (depending on where food is located). I also make sure all doors are locked and secured. Although I have not had to operate an alarm system for any sitting opportunities, I have personal experience with activating and deactivating an ADT alarm system.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, I am usually available on most holidays as I don't tend to travel during those times. If I am not available, I will make sure that those dates are blocked out so there is no confusion.
What is your favorite cat toy?
My favorite cat toy is the feather toy on a string. I love watching cats track a toy and rev themselves up to pounce (the booty wiggle), as well as using the toy to create an opportunity to run for myself and kitty.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I move slowly around the kitty and try not to make any jarring noises. I tend to keep my car keys on my person and will remove them if the jingle seems to be a trigger. I also speak in a soft, low, and soothing tone when talking to the kitty. Lastly, I try to make myself small by getting down on the floor. From there, I usually reach out toward the kitty with my palms up and wait to see if they will come close for a sniff—and hopefully a head butt—before I make any attempt to touch them. I allow the kitty to give me permission first.

Tamara was amazing - we managed to schedule a virtual meet and greet on short notice. She followed my instructions to a t, and also wore shoe covers on the carpet inside which I thought was very thoughtful. Vanta is very scared of strangers, but Tamara managed to snap some videos and photos of her nevertheless. I highly recommend booking with Tamara, she was a pleasure to work with and made me feel assured that Vanta and the house would be in good hands while I was away! Tamara took phenomenal care of my cat while I was away! She learned how to administer his inhaler to treat his asthma and confidently gave him his medication. She took a lot of care in cleaning out my cat’s litter box, giving him treats, playing with him and just showing him love. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

District Heights cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $32.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

I was so excited when I found this app. so many sitters to pick from but Tamara was available for my schedule. Just from the meet & greet I knew i had made the right choice. Tamara has watched my cat twice now and I would not hesitate to hire her again! She is very communicative during the visit, sending lots of photo and video updates.
