Cat Sitting in Mount Airy, MD

Hello! I have worked professionally as a zookeeper with cats for twenty years- big cats like cheetahs, clouded leopards and the small but feisty fishing cat! Through years of training and building trust, I have been able to create close relationships with these animals. To the point that they’ve allowed me to give them vaccines, ultrasounds or take voluntary blood samples. I only use positive reinforcement training and they can leave the session the moment they feel uncomfortable. This reduce stress and helps them live their best lives. Enrichment is also key to ensure that an animal is not only physically healthy, but mentally stimulated as well.
I’ve also owned cats my entire life. I grew up with my childhood family cats and the first thing I did when I moved into my own apartment was bring my young cat Zeus with me...

Enrichment is also key to ensure that an animal is not only physically healthy, but mentally stimulated as well.
I’ve also owned cats my entire life. I grew up with my childhood family cats and the first thing I did when I moved into my own apartment was bring my young cat Zeus with me. That old man cat lived until 22 and he went through every step of my adult life with me- including moves, marriage and children. I currently own two bonded tuxedo brothers rescued from a shelter as kittens. They are about as spoiled as two lucky cats can be! We built them their very own Catio with wall mounted shelves and scratching posts so they can safely enjoy the outdoors, while still protecting the local wildlife.
I love animals of all shapes and sizes but I really do have a special place in my heart for cats. I would love the chance to help take care of yours!
I have a ton of animal experience and am skilled in noticing medical or behavioral issues. I have experience medicating the most finicky of cats and have also administered insulin to diabetic cats on an ever-changing schedule. I will spend the entire time feeding, cleaning and playing with your cats (if they want me to) and will keep an open dialogue while you’re away. Communication and trust are so incredibly important and you’d know your cats are in trusted hands! I take this very seriously and have independent pet sitter insurance for your added protection.

Learn More About Jenny

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I was happy to help a client who had a recently diagnosed diabetic cat. She was incredibly anxious about leaving her cat while needing insulin injections, but I was able to medicate her successfully and my client was able to enjoy her time away. It was extremely rewarding to be able to give my client peace of mind, and keep the kitty safe and healthy.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I always provide a complimentary meet and greet so we can go over everything in person. This gives you the chance to get to know me and I can meet your pets as well and go over your basic routine. We go over feeding schedule, medication needs, and location of water and litter boxes. If you have a shy cat, pointing out favorite hiding places is helpful! I want everyone to be as comfortable as possible. Once you leave your cats in my care, I provide daily updates with adorable photos and a recap of your pets day.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Safety is my priority. I have worked dangerous carnivores, including cats, in a zoo setting for twenty years so double-checking doors and locks and where animals should have access is ingrained in my daily life. Your pets safety and comfort is paramount. Communication is so very important and I do my best to keep an open line of communication with my clients.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have worked with cats of all types professionally. Some want all the attention, and I’m happy to oblige! But others are more sensitive and need more time to warm up to strangers. I happily go at the cat’s pace, as I am an expert at reading animal behavior. I spend the allotted time-after taking care of their basic needs-talking or singing quietly, or just sitting while the cats get to know my scent and voice. I also come equipped with treats if they are allowed to have them!

Jenny did a great job caring for our 3 cats when we went away for a week…one week after moving into a new house! She sent great updates and made sure she saw all of the cats (even the one that always hides). I felt 100% comfortable with Jenny caring for the cats.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Mount Airy cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
