I am a stay-at-home mom and homeschooler with seven years of professional pet sitting experience and 25+ years of personal cat care experience... I adopted my first cat, Emma, at the age of 15. I loved her more than anything and since have adopted and raised four other cats as family… Tiger, Budgy, Mickey, and our new kitten, Mabel Roo. I loved them all dearly and each cat had/has their own personality and special health needs. I had to become confident in applying topicals and ear drops, using an inhaler and spacer, providing assistance with mobility, being mindful of hearing loss challenges, grooming, and giving pills regularly.
I am a stay-at-home mom and homeschooler with seven years of professional pet sitting experience and 25+ years of personal cat care experience. I still take precautions like masking to avoid illness and will always keep your cat’s health and safety top of mind. I am calm, patient, and reassuring and like to let cats come to me to respect their comfort level and build trust. I will love and care for your cat like they are family and will always be prompt with communication and send as many photos as you would like.
A couple things to know and consider, my 4th grader/miniature aspiring cat lady tags along with me to all of my jobs. She’s great with cats and super respectful of my clients’ homes. Also, we still mask to avoid illness. I ask my clients to let me know before our meet & greets if anyone in their home is sick or has any new symptoms pop up so we can reschedule or do a video chat and no contact key pickup instead.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love spending time with cats. I am fascinated by their quirks and individuality. Gaining their trust and sharing affection gives me so much joy.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
We recently adopted our new kitten, Mabel Roo. She is amazing and we are totally in love with her <3
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I enter their home calmly and say hello in a friendly tone. I wait for them to come out and say hello again. Once they see me, I speak to them in a kind and reassuring tone. I will usually sit on the ground in an open area and extend my hand in a welcoming gesture to invite them to smell me. If I pass the sniff test, I pet them gently while talking in quiet, soothing tones and pay close attention to their body language and sounds. If they don’t want pets, I continue talking to them as I clean and fill their bowls and check their litter boxes. I also patiently try to coax them to play with their favorite toys. Most importantly, I respect what they want and don’t push interaction if they aren’t receptive. I build trust.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Rockville cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Before I go on, this review is posted with the information I was given at 12:43 am. If it turns out there was a family emergency or personal event leading to what happened, then I would consider adjusting the review below. Regardless, sending a Meowtel message and then blocking messages led to me seeing the message and then it disappeared and said I could not contact her which indicates that she blocked communication. There was no inappropriate communication on either end. If it was a time issue, then we would've worked with her if needed (even adding a second sitter). We initially had a positive meet-and-greet with Shasta and were confident in her care for our 11 cats. However, at 12:43 AM on the second day of our trip, Shasta messaged via Meowtel to say she was quitting the reservation immediately and notifying Meowtel. While we understand that personal emergencies happen, Shasta immediately blocked us on the Meowtel app after sending the message, which caused her message to disappear from our view. This also meant I could not reply to her. She also did not respond to a follow-up text from me and my husband asking for time. This meant we needed to either get home or find a sitter without having time to schedule a meet and greet. This was a major safety concern as three of our cats require strict daily medical care for conditions including cancer and lymphoma. Being 12 hours away and unable to communicate with our sitter was incredibly distressing. We are grateful to Meowtel Support and our replacement sitter for stepping in, but we cannot recommend Shasta for high-needs or medical sits due to the lack of professional accountability during an emergency.

Unfortunately, I was unable to complete the booking as our expectations were misaligned. After my visits, I handled the situation with urgency to make sure care for the cats continued on schedule and informed the client via app and representative.
