I live with my cats (one with special needs) in a small apartment, but it doesn't stop me from making my house cat friendly by including vertical space as well as cat friendly furnitures. What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love cats (and dogs too!) but I can only have two cats due to my apartment size. Cat sitting is not only a nice way to meet people but also to meet more cutie cats and kittens!!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Finding a suitable cat sitter for your pets is not easy. I would recommend starting from certified and background checked sitters. From there, trying out a few sitters and you would slowly figure out what's best for you and your pets:)
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I would start with an initial conversation with the owners and interaction with the cats. Throughout the first conversation and interaction, I would ask for owners expectation, requests, and then confirm the final information before the first drop in or sitting!

Angela was wonderful and kept me updated daily and my 3 cats happy while I was out of town for several days. She put in extra effort and noticed that one of their claws needed clipping, and even cleaned the acne on his chin (he’s a messy eater).

This was our first time with Angela. She did an excellent job. She is very responsible, conscientious, helpful, and caring. Our kitty can be a little shy at first, but she was very patient with him and he responded well. He can have some anxiety and urinary issues when we're away. Angela seemed very familiar with all that, knew what to watch out for, and put our minds at ease. Of course, she sent lots of photos/videos with every visit. We will booking Angela again in the future because we know he will be in good hands.

Angela was absolutely wonderful with my cat, Six! She took great care of him and kept me updated while I was away, which gave me peace of mind. Six clearly enjoyed having her around and was happy and comfortable when I returned. She even went above and beyond by leaving him some cat grass and silvervine as little gifts, which was incredibly thoughtful. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and cares about the pets she watches. I would absolutely trust Angela with Six again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and thoughtful pet sitter. Thank you again, Angela!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Silver Spring cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
