Cat Sitting in Lapeer, MI

Hi! I’m a full-time, fear free cat sitter with over 15 years of hands-on cat care experience. Cats have been part of my life since early childhood, and I currently share my home with seven of my own ❤️ I’ve raised kittens from as young as 10 days old, cared for seniors, and supported cats with medical or behavioral needs, so I’m comfortable working with cats of all ages, personalities, and energy levels.

During visits, I focus on keeping your cat’s routine consistent and allowing them to set the pace for interaction. Some cats love play and affection, while others prefer quiet companionship, and I respect those boundaries to help reduce stress and build trust. My Fear Free approach emphasizes patience, gentle handling, and low pressure interactions so cats feel safe in their own space...

During visits, I focus on keeping your cat’s routine consistent and allowing them to set the pace for interaction. Some cats love play and affection, while others prefer quiet companionship, and I respect those boundaries to help reduce stress and build trust. My Fear Free approach emphasizes patience, gentle handling, and low pressure interactions so cats feel safe in their own space.

During each visit, I make sure your cat’s essential needs are fully met, including feeding, fresh water, and litter box care. I also offer playtime, enrichment, and affection when your cat is comfortable with it. I provide regular updates with photos and notes so you know how your cat is doing while you’re away, and light home care, such as bringing in mail or watering plants, is available upon request.

In addition to my cat specific experience, I have a background in veterinary and wildlife care and have worked with a wide range of animals, including dogs, rabbits, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, small mammals, and farm animals. This experience allows me to confidently care for cats in multi-pet households and to recognize subtle changes in behavior or health across species. I’m comfortable administering medications, following detailed care instructions, and adapting my approach to each animal’s individual needs.

What sets me apart is my combination of Fear Free training, veterinary experience, and a genuine love for cats. I take the time to understand each cat’s personality and provide calm, attentive care so you can feel confident your cat, and any other pets in your home, are in knowledgeable, compassionate hands 😊

Learn More About Victoria

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have over 15 years of cat care experience and have been caring for cats since I was a child. Cats have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I currently have seven of my own and have raised kittens from as young as 3 days old, including a tiny foster kitten who still had his umbilical cord ❤️ Through my background in veterinary and wildlife care, I’m experienced with administering medications, monitoring health concerns, and caring for cats with special needs, shy personalities, or medical requirements.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is getting to know each cat’s individual personality and earning their trust. I love watching shy or cautious cats slowly become more comfortable and seeing confident cats show off their playful side. Every cat is different, and it’s rewarding to tailor my care to what makes each one feel safe, relaxed, and happy in their own home.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite reservations involved caring for a shy cat who initially wanted nothing to do with me. By moving slowly, respecting their boundaries, and keeping visits calm and predictable, the cat gradually became more comfortable. By the end of the booking, they were seeking out attention and play, which was incredibly rewarding and a great example of why patience matters in cat care ❤️

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes! I currently have seven cats of my own, each with a unique personality. Ranging from seniors to young adults, they are Wilbur; Mortimer (Morty); Alana and Athena, littermates I raised from 10 days old after their mother abandoned them; Freya; and Archer (Archie) and Sebastian (Sebi), also littermates whom I adopted from a previous client after they were found on the roadside with parasites and were going to be taken to a shelter. I’ve raised kittens from a very young age and have worked extensively with positive, low-stress training and enrichment. One of my cats knows how to sit on cue, and another plays fetch, which is always a fun conversation starter and a reminder of how intelligent and adaptable cats can be.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Look for a sitter who understands cat behavior and is willing to move at your cat’s pace. A good cat sitter should respect boundaries, keep routines consistent, and communicate clearly while you’re away. Experience with medication, special needs, and multi-pet households can also make a big difference in your cat’s comfort and safety.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

My process starts with learning as much as I can about your cat’s routine, personality, and preferences. I like to understand what your cat enjoys, what stresses them out, and any medical or behavioral needs they may have. During visits, I keep their routine consistent and let the cat set the pace for interaction, adjusting my approach based on their comfort level. Clear communication is important to me, so I provide updates to help cat parents feel confident while they’re away.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Safety is always a top priority for me. I carefully follow all care instructions, doublecheck doors and windows, and make sure cats are accounted for before and after each visit. With my veterinary and Fear Free background, I’m attentive to health or behavior changes and take action quickly if something seems off. I treat every home with respect and discretion and aim to leave things exactly as I found them, so both cats and their humans feel secure.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, I’m often available during holidays! Since I’m a full-time sitter, I plan my schedule in advance and do my best to accommodate holiday bookings whenever possible. I recommend reaching out early, as those dates tend to fill up quickly.

What is your favorite cat toy?

I love interactive toys like wand toys because they encourage natural hunting behaviors and allow me to adjust play based on each cat’s energy level. Puzzle toys and enrichment activities are also favorites, especially for cats who enjoy mental stimulation 😊

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I handle timid or anxious cats by giving them space and allowing them to set the pace. I use calm movements, quiet voices, and avoid forcing interaction. My Fear-Free approach focuses on reducing stress and building trust through consistency, patience, and positive associations, even if that means simply sitting quietly nearby during visits.

Victoria took care of the cats on and off over several months. She's extremely communicative, reliable and a cat whisperer. The cats are typically scared of strangers but they warmed up to her. Each time she arrived she would send pics of each cat to assure all are safe and sound. I will hire her in a heartbeat if I ever need her assistance again.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
