Allison's House Cat Sitting

I'm Allison

Cat Sitting in Minneapolis, MN

Hi! I really love this work. I've lived with cats nearly every year of my life, and I've been cat sitting since I was young (so over 40 years!).

Every cat I meet seems to become my favorite. I enjoy cats who set good boundaries (hissers) or know how to take care of their anxiety (hiders). I also appreciate those who want all the pets or are all about playtime. When my friends describe me, reliable and trustworthy are frequent words that come up. I treat every cat I work with as I would want someone to treat my cats. I also take seriously any directions that are unique for each cat (petting preferences, special food situations, etc).

I've lived with cats pretty much my whole life. I've had or cared for cats who were diabetic, living with cancer, super anxious, or licking their fur off due to allergies or autoimmune conditions. So, I'm very comfortable with pills, eye and ear drops and topical treatments. I'm also Red Cross Certified in Cat and Dog first aid...
Hi! I really love this work. I've lived with cats nearly every year of my life, and I've been cat sitting since I was young (so over 40 years!).

I've lived with cats pretty much my whole life. I've had or cared for cats who were diabetic, living with cancer, super anxious, or licking their fur off due to allergies or autoimmune conditions. So, I'm very comfortable with pills, eye and ear drops and topical treatments. I'm also Red Cross Certified in Cat and Dog first aid.

I'm a calm person who's been around the planet a while and I have a very flexible schedule at this time in my life, which might make me a good fit for your cat's needs.

In my time with Meowtel, I've been able to help cat parents learn how to pill their cat. I've also managed to get medications into cats who were very timid and liked to hide. I've befriended cats who like no one but their families. And, I've respected the boundaries of cats who refused to befriend me! :)

During a home visit, I first make sure I can find the cats. I want to be able to see that they are somewhere safe and that they aren't showing any unusual behavior. I'll greet them verbally if they're hiding and if not, I'll follow their cues. I then make sure to take care of their basic needs - fresh water, clean litter, food, cleaning up after them if needed. Then it's my favorite part of the visit - play, pet, or just spending time together.

After the visit. I send pictures and videos of many of those parts of the visits and the cats themselves. This job is helping me develop my camera skills which I hadn't expected!

I'm offering a 10% off coupon for new clients. There are two codes for the coupon, depending where you are in the cities. The codes are: 21NCWFUJ or NZQ700P5. If one doesn't work, please try the other.

I really do adore this work - it's the best job I've ever had. I'm always grateful for people trusting me with their beloved cats.

Learn More About Allison

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have done cat sitting for neighbors and friends for as long as I can remember - probably since age 13, which means I've got 40 years of experience! I started to sit with Meowtel in September 2025.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to know the cats. I enjoy learning what they want, whether they are a cat who plays a lot or would rather just be petted. I especially love the cats who are a little reserved. I consider it a challenge to get to know them and an honor when they finally let me be near them with less fear.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I don't think I have a favorite - I've really enjoyed every single cat family I've worked with. I've been amazed that I was able to medicate a very timid cat, I've laughed at the antics of the young ones, I've really enjoyed the cats who wanted petting, and I've worked to find the right toys for the playful cats. I really just like cats!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Poppy, our cat, is a big orange tabby. She's a spicy one, so she keeps us on our toes. I've also had Katniss (a one-eyed tabby who was fierce like her namesake), and Cicely, Jack, Ellie, Bobbi, Christopher and Caesar throughout my life.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Find someone you feel comfortable with, someone who you trust. I like working with clients through Meowtel because it protects pet parents by insuring our work, and is there to help us sitters with any challenging situations we encounter.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I've had escape artist cats a few times in my life, so when I enter the home, I am careful to keep my body positioned so the cats can't get past me. I lock the door while I'm there, and lock up carefully when I leave, again watching for those escape-motivated cats. If anything seems amiss in the house or with a cat, I'd reach out immediately. Also, when there is snow on the ground, I try to walk around outside for a little while so it looks like someone is home, and of course grab any leaflets or newspapers in the yard or door areas.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, we usually celebrate holidays with extended family on a different day than the actual day. During the winter holidays last year, I found I enjoyed them so much more with my cat visits included in the season.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I greet them when I come in, with treats, if ok'ed by the client. When I'm done with the basic care chores, I spend time near them without invading their boundaries. I'll be in the same room and maybe talk to them or even read to them. If I'll be seeing them for multiple visits, I try to leave something there that might smell like me (eg a sweater) so they can get accustomed to me that way. I also try to give them treats as I leave, if ok'ed by client.

Allison was wonderful! Super conscientious about checking in each day, and she sent adorable photos and videos of my kitty so I knew he was doing okay. Very generous with her time too; a couple times she even stopped by for quick extra visits if the timing worked out. Would 100% recommend and hire again.

My cat is a very anxious guy and also needs medications. Allison and I were able to come up with a good solution to get him to take his medications while I was away. Allison provided detailed visit information and was very communicative! At the end of time, my cat was starting to come out more and he was well taken care of.

Allison did a wonderful job taking care of my geriatric cat! She took direction about what I felt was most important and provided thoughtful suggestions for his care before and during the visits. She was able to pill my cat (not always easy!) and provided me updates throughout the visit. I felt very at ease knowing he was under Alison's care. I would recommend her to friends and family. 11/10!

This lady knows cats!!! My feline friends are seniors and are very used to having attention every day. Not only did Allison take excellent care of the “business” part of petcare (better than myself I admit) she genuinely loves these creatures. I received daily photos and purr videos. Highly recommend Allison if you are looking for someone to truly dote upon your loved one(s) and the wellbeing of your house in general. 5 meows!

Allison went above and beyond, leaving my home cleaner than when I left for vacation. She also appeared to be a total cat whisperer, as she captured my 13-year-old cat chasing a laser on video and quickly figured out that my 8-year-old Siamese loved playing with the cat toy wand as much as the attachment. The photos and videos she shared put my mind at ease knowing my girls were in good hands and well taken care of. Thank you, Allison!

Allison did a fantastic job caring for our 3 cats while we were on a 2-week vacation! She provided excellent care, was diligent about following our (somewhat complicated) feeding routine, and sent us detailed updates throughout our trip. It’s clear she really has a passion and love for cats, and quickly bonded with ours. I will definitely be hiring Allison again for our future trips, and would highly recommend Allison if you’re looking for a cat sitter you can trust to provide top-notch care for your kitties!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Minneapolis cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
