What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
It’s important that I understand any specific needs your cat has as welll as any likes or dislikes. We will review the feeding plan, accepted treats, and medication schedule, if applicable.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
🏡 Keeping Your Kitty & Home Safe I take **“leave no paw behind”** pretty seriously. 🐾 Before I leave, I do a quick kitty-and-home safety sweep. 🔐 Doors & windows: I double-check that everything is securely closed. No unscheduled neighborhood adventures! 🗝️ The key stays with me: It stays safely in my pocket throughout the visit. 🐱 Kitty-proofing: I keep anything sharp, breakable, or potentially hazardous safely out of paw’s reach, and water away from electrical outlets. 💊 Medications & chemicals: These stay safely out of reach of curious paws. 👀 Final headcount: I make sure I know where your kitty is before I leave. Even professional hide-and-seek champions get accounted for! 🚪 Escape prevention: I’m especially careful when entering and exiting because I know an open door can look like an irresistible invitation to explore. Your kitty stays safe, your home stays secure, and you get peace of mind while you’re away. 😸
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
🐱 What About Shy or Anxious Kitties? The shy ones are my specialty. 💕 In fact, the professional hide-and-seek champions are often my favorite! I never force interaction. I give nervous kitties the space they need while speaking to them softly, so they can hear my voice even if they’re tucked away in their favorite hiding spot. Then I let food, treats, patience, and a calming voice do the relationship-building. 😻 I follow their lead and let trust happen on *their* timeline. Many of my shy clients start warming up within a day or two once they realize I come bearing snacks and absolutely no pressure. No chasing. No cornering. Just patience, snacks, and a little feline diplomacy.🐾

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
