Hi! I’m Katie. I’ve always loved animals and currently share my home with an orange cat and a bunny. I’ve been cat sitting for years and truly enjoy getting to know each cat’s unique personality.

When meeting a new kitty, I let them take the lead and respect their boundaries, helping them feel safe and comfortable at their own pace. BI’m especially comfortable with shy or sensitive cats. I’m detail-oriented, organized, and a strong communicator. You can expect regular updates, photos, and thoughtful care throughout each visit.

I treat every cat the way I would want someone to care for my own, prioritizing their comfort, routine, and happiness. Whether your cat is playful, shy, or somewhere in between, I aim to create a calm, positive experience for them while you’re away.

In my free time, I enjoy knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sewing, reading, and playing the piano.

Learn More About Katie

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been cat sitting for about 6–7 years for friends, family, and others in my community, and it’s something I genuinely love doing. I’ve cared for a wide range of cats, from very social and playful to more independent or shy, and I always adjust my approach to fit each cat’s personality. I’m comfortable following detailed care instructions, maintaining routines, and making sure each cat feels safe and cared for while their owner is away. Over time, I’ve learned that every cat is different, and I really enjoy getting to know what makes each one comfortable.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to start with a conversation or meet-and-greet to learn about your cat’s routine, personality, and any specific needs or preferences. During visits, I follow your instructions closely, feeding, litter care, playtime, and any medications if needed, while also paying attention to how your cat is feeling day to day. I provide regular updates with messages and photos so you always know how your cat is doing. My goal is to keep things as consistent and stress-free as possible for both you and your cat while you’re away.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I take a very gentle, patient approach with timid or anxious cats and always let them set the pace. I never force interaction and instead focus on creating a calm, safe presence so they can warm up in their own time. I also have personal experience building trust with very shy cats. My mom adopted a feral cat several years ago who was extremely fearful at first and wouldn’t come out of hiding. Over time, that cat became comfortable not only with her but with me as well. I’ve seen firsthand how much trust can grow when a cat feels safe. I’ve also worked with shy cats who needed time to warm up, like my neighbor’s cat who initially kept her distance and would hiss or swat, but now greets me, accepts pets, and purrs when I visit. I always respect boundaries and pay close attention to body language.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
