I am a married adult female in my early 50s with two teenage children and two cats of my own, one was a foster kitten and the other a rescue colony cat with a history of multiple medical needs upon rescue. I have a masters degree in my profession, but I’ve decided to take a break from that and explore the things I love, one of which is cats. Meowtel showed up in my social media feed due to my strong interest and love for cats as a species. My degree as a pediatric speech pathologist sounds like it may not relate to cat and kitten care... I have traveled with my own cat, both via car and air travel, and it completely stresses her out. I just felt uncomfortable, leaving her behind, thinking she might not get the care and attention she deserved.
I am a perfectionist and do everything to my best ability and intend to learn not just your cats needs but preferences. I can never take your place, but I would like your kitten or cat to feel as safe and comfortable as possible.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Alice, Big Al. A rescue colony cat who was being beat up by the other males in his colony. He is now a happy indoor cat. Tiger Lily, Lily. She was fostered then I couldn’t let her go. The cat distribution system was definitely in effect.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, with the possible exception of Christmas, dependent upon location. My schedule is often flexible both during and outside of holidays.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Most cats are appropriately cautious of new people, especially if their person is not around. I don’t necessarily seek cats out unless I am concerned about them but rather wait for them to come to me, often at their level and allow them to smell me or my hands first. Gentle, quiet talking as well.

We had to leave our old, curmudgeonly kind of neurotic most sweet boy ever cat for 20 days. We were concerned. Leah was wonderful. She is always responsive and timely and just great communication, even when we were time zones away. Our guy gets some getting used to and has behavioral tics from a hard life before we adopted him. Leah respected that and rolled with it. And our guy came around to depend on and adore her. Leah is sensitive and empathetic and reliable. Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
