Cat Sitting in Greensboro, NC

Im a lifelong cat person who is a proud cat-mom of two formerly feral working cats (now indoors)! šŸˆā€ā¬› I’m new to Meowtel, but have spent most of my life cat sitting or taking in neighborhood strays, and am now an active TNR (trap-neuter-return) volunteer in my neighborhood, having successfully rehomed multiple stray and feral cats!

Working with feral and stray cats has taught me patience, respect for their boundaries, and how to earn trust at their own pace.

When I arrive to greet a new cat, I usually start by talking softly to the cat and sitting on the floor with them. I’ll offer treats or an enticing toy, and allow them to get used to my presence and scent. Once they’re ready, I spend lots of time bonding through play and attention, always meeting them where they’re at!

Because of my TNR and rescue work, I’m especially comfortable with shy, anxious, or semi-feral cats. I understand feline behavior and body language well and am able to build trust gradually over time. I’m even the regular sitter for a household with five formally feral cats who will only trust me as a sitter!

I’ve also followed Jackson Galaxy’s cat behavior work for years, which has helped shape my patience, respect, and care for cats!

Learn More About Saya

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat-sitting is the quiet and the presence that comes with cats, as well as the connections we get to build. Spending time with cats often involves slowing down and being patient, and these kinds of interactions are as beneficial for the cat as they are for me! Cats have such unique personalities, and I love having the opportunity to get to know who they are. With shy or timid cats, earning their trust can take time, but it is always incredibly rewarding. When they show me they feel safe and comfortable in my presence, it’s a special connection that makes cat-sitting meaningful.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite reservations is a family I regularly sit for who has five formerly feral cats. When the cats were first adopted, they were extremely wary of people and would hide whenever someone new came into the house. Because of my experience with stray cats, I was able to gain their trust by talking softly, sitting quietly on the floor, and using toys and treats to open up the space. Now when I arrive, several of them come to greet me at the door, and I’ve been able to build a relationship with each of them at their own pace. Cats (especially ferals and strays) don’t give their trust easily, so watching our relationships develop over time has been incredibly rewarding and has made them one of my favorite families to visit!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Working with timid and anxious cats is actually my speciality. Through my TNR (trap-neuter-return) work and experience caring for stray and feral cats, I’ve learned that the best way to approach shy or fearful cats is to slow down, respect their boundaries, and have patience. When I arrive for a visit, I usually start by speaking softly to the cat and sitting on the floor, allowing them to get used to my presence. I then offer treats or an enticing toy to open up the space, and allow the cat to decide when and how they want to interact. My goal is always to create a safe, low-stress environment where the cat feels comfortable to open up at their pace. Because of this approach, I’ve been successful at building relationships with shy, anxious, and even feral cats over time, and hope to build a lasting relationship with your cat too!

Saya was on time and followed our directions for our cats. Even watered our plants and was up to wash a dish or two of old cat food bowls she changed. Although we used her services only once, with it, we could recommend.

Saya was a great sitter, sending lots of pictures and videos of my cat while I was away. I have a shy fur ball, but she warmed up to Saya more quickly than I thought she would! I would book with her again.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Greensboro cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $24.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
