I believe that animals are family and have needs just as us humans do. I have a huge compassionate heart and take time and care when I am pet sitting to make sure the cat feels comfortable and safe... Hey fellow cat parents! My name is Heather. I’m 35 and based in Winston-Salem. I have a 5 year old tuxedo cat named Lucy and a small terrier mix dog named Daisy. My cat and dog have been besties since Lucy was a kitten. I’ve loved cats and grown up around them since my parents brought home my first cat, Socks, at age 9.
I believe that animals are family and have needs just as us humans do. I have a huge compassionate heart and take time and care when I am pet sitting to make sure the cat feels comfortable and safe. I text picture updates to the owners and make sure water bowls are full and follow the owner’s directed feeding/pet medication schedule + treats and playtime if the owner is agreeable. I am skilled in litter box cleaning as well. My parents have 3 cats and I enjoy caring for them while they are out of town. I recently began pet-sitting for a coworker friend and am passionate about animal care. I’ve enjoyed being a Meowtel sitter for the past year!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been a Meowtel sitter since July 2025, but I have been a cat owner since age 9 and have taken care of cats since I was a child. When I became a teenager I would watch my parents’ 3 cats when they would go out of town, making sure the litter box was fully cleaned every 3 days, feeding, filling water bowls, and administering medications, such as Amoxicillin. I have also pet sat for friends and am happy to provide references.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy getting to spend time with the cats and learning their unique personalities. I identify as a cat magnet and enjoy giving them pets and playtime.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
One of my absolute favorite parts of cat sitting is the process of watching an anxious/shy or even spicy kitty warm up to me! I make sure to go at the cat’s own pace and not force them. Even if the cat is hiding under a bed or behind a couch, I ensure they get attention too! I’ll start by approaching the cat quietly and calmly and gauge if they are comfortable enough for a sniff test. And if they are not ready for that point yet, I’ll slide a bowl of food or a treat to where they are while maintaining a safe distance. I also see if the cat would like to engage in play with a laser or toy on a stick. It just takes patience and sometimes a kitty who was spicy on day 1 is my bestie by day 5! 😺

Heather Truly takes exceptional care of Elvis. She will always send multiple pictures and be very detailed with her updates, including what kind of playtime he got, how much food he’s eaten, what treats he’s eaten, and even what toys they played with. Heather has been looking after Albus for me for roughly the last year when I travel or have to go out of town. when I got back to town this week, she had left him toys for his birthday, as his birthday was on Monday. He’s obsessed with dry frozen fish treats- and she found fish toys, and a wand for him for his birthday. What a wonderful surprise to come home to a little note and these toys for my special boy. Traveling for work is hard when you leave your fluffy friends at home, but I can rest assured that Albus is in good care with Heather.

Heather is an amazing sitter who truly cares about her clients! She is very respectful and responsible, and goes above and beyond in her duties. She asked questions if she needed clarification on my instructions, or if she had any concerns about my cat’s health issues. One of my kitties requires daily medications, and Heather did a wonderful job of earning her trust and getting her meds administered every evening, something that other caretakers have struggled with! Heather stayed in touch with me daily, sent me lots of pics of my kitties, and gave me a detailed update on what she did every visit. I highly recommend Heather to anyone who has “needy” kitties like mine, because she provides excellent care and loves them like her own! I was able to enjoy my vacation , knowing that my babies were in good hands with Heather!

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Winston Salem cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

I’m truly blessed to have found such a caring and compassionate cat sitter! Heather definitely has the magic touch with cats! I never thought I’d be able to find someone who could handle giving daily oral meds to one of my babies, but Heather does it without fail! She was also understanding when I needed to adjust my travel plans on short notice. I was nervous about using a cat sitter at first (I’ve always had family members help me out) but Heather eased my fears from the moment my kittties and I first met her, and I highly recommend her to similar cat parents who worry about their babies! Heather is fantastic! She's dependable, attentive, kind, loving, and caring with my cats. She's respectful of my home and would not only give my cats food and water, she would play with them, clean up any messes, including the litter box. She also took good care of my elderly cat that had a thyroid condition, including rubbing cream medication on her ear and calming her down.
