What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been fostering and cat sitting for almost all of my adult life through friends, family, and acquaintances. I initially got into it after being recommended to by a fellow cat sitter while in college in New York. She let me test-run with a sick cat she was fostering at the time, and I really enjoyed caring for him. I feel like it gives me a real purpose, outside of making content for kids!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

When working with a new cat parent, I like to start with with discussing their cat’s routine, preferences, and any specific needs. I like to get to know the cat’s personality and any particular quirks or concerns the owner might have. Then I can plan out feeding, playtime, and any medical requirements. I also emphasize open communication, encouraging owners to reach out with questions or updates. My goal is to ensure both the cat and the parent feel comfortable and supported throughout our time together.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Anxious cats require extra care and attention! I focus on creating a safe environment where they can set the pace for our interactions. Shy cats often have their own unique ways of doing things, and by learning their "language," I can gently introduce them to new experiences in ways they will accept. My cat Nami was once very timid, and by allowing her to take the lead in our interactions, I helped her build her world up in a way we can both be happy!

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.

We are proud to provide each of our independently-contracted Meowtel cat sitters with the full benefits of our Meowtel Promise on eligible reservations. For reservations where each visit is at or above $20 and paid for through Meowtel, your cat(s) will automatically be covered under our insurance policy in the event that things don't go as planned.

If you are not fully satisfied with your sitter after the Meet & Greet or during the reservation, please call 1-844-636-9835 so we can help you re-book with a new sitter to ensure we can deliver on our purrfect hospitality promise.
