I'm Alexandra | Cat Sitting in New Ipswich, NH

Hello, fellow feline enthusiasts! My name is Alex and I bring over 7 years of dedicated professional cat care experience to the table spanning from shelters to veterinary clinics to private in-home care. I've had the purr-ivilege of caring for cats of all ages and temperaments. My journey in professional cat care began in shelters, where I learned the nuances of feline behavior, the importance of patience, and the rewards of gaining a cat's trust. From there, I ventured into veterinary hospitals, honing my skills in administering medications, providing special dietary care, and handling cats in various states of health. My experience extends beyond clinical settings into the homes of cat owners, where I've served as a reliable and compassionate cat sitter in the Greater Boston area. Whether it's cuddling with a shy kitten, e...

Learn More About Alexandra

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is the opportunity to meet and bond with a wide variety of cats. Each cat has their own distinct personality and it's incredibly rewarding to spend time with them, earn their trust, and form a special connection during my visits. Cat sitting also allows me to provide essential care and companionship while their owners are away, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and loved in their own home. It's incredibly fulfilling to know that I'm making a positive difference in their lives and helping to alleviate any stress or anxiety they may experience in their owner's absence.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

My typical process for working with a new cat parent begins with open communication and understanding. I believe it's essential to establish a strong foundation of trust and rapport from the very beginning. Firstly, I initiate a detailed discussion with the cat parent to learn about their cat's personality, routine, dietary needs, medical history, and any specific instructions or preferences they may have. This information helps me tailor my approach to best meet the needs of both the cat and the owner. Throughout the cat sitting period, I maintain regular communication with the cat parent, providing updates, photos, and videos to keep them informed and involved in their cat's well-being. Overall, my goal is to establish a positive and collaborative relationship with the cat parent, built on trust, professionalism, and a genuine love for their cat.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

When working with cats that are particularly timid or anxious, I prioritize patience, understanding, and gentle handling to help them feel safe and secure in my presence. I also communicate closely with the cat parent to understand their cat's specific triggers, fears, and preferences, and to collaborate on strategies for managing the cat's anxiety while they're away. First and foremost, I approach these cats with a calm and reassuring demeanor, speaking to them softly and moving slowly to avoid startling them. I allow them to set the pace and take the lead in our interactions, respecting their boundaries and giving them space when needed. Overall, my approach to handling timid or anxious cats is rooted in empathy, patience, and respect for their individual needs and comfort levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

New Ipswich cat sitting rates will vary based on the pet sitter's experience and expertise, but the average price for a cat sitter is $33.00. Prices will also depend on how long your cat needs company for, whether that be a drop-in visit or overnight stay in your home. Meowtel sitters offer 20, 45, and 60-minute drop-in visits that allow for fully tailored care for your kitties. Your caregiver may also need to charge a little more if they have to travel far, so we'll match you with the best options which are close by.

Every Meowtel cat sitter has been thoroughly vetted, background-checked, and is insured through Meowtel on eligible reservations via our Meowtel Promise. To ensure total peace of mind while you're away, every Meowtel reservation comes with a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can have full confidence in your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress for your kitties. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend that you book daily visits with your sitter to keep your cats in their routine and to help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each Meowtel cat sitting visit will include the whole 9 yards: feeding, refreshing the water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, as well as any special requests you may have. We know every kitty is different and that's why we offer tailored, in-home services since cats don't do well outside their own homes. Plus, every reservation comes with a free Meet & Greet so you can meet your sitter before you leave to ensure it will be a purrfect fit.
