Cat Sitting in Bloomfield, NJ
I'm available all times throughout the day (including weekends) to check in on your furry friend while you're out. I have a car, and can travel within... I'm a reliable and detail-oriented cat lover who's available for daily check-ins, feedings, cleanings, and playtime. I have a cat of my own (Lily!) and have been around cats and other pets all my life, so I'm comfortable with animals. I can tell when a kitty's looking for attention, or when they prefer some space.
I'm available all times throughout the day (including weekends) to check in on your furry friend while you're out. I have a car, and can travel within a 10-mile radius of Bloomfield, NJ.
I've pet-sat for friends multiple times over the years, plus I've looked for pet sitters for my own cat, so I know what it's like on both sides of the experience. I'll always respect the space I'm entering and stick to any instructions provided, while sending you updates as needed or requested, to make sure you're comfortable with my level of care.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've watched pets, including cats, for friends several times over the last 20 years, including overnight stays.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love when a cat starts to feel comfortable with a new person. When they decide you're worthy of their attention, it's the best feeling in the world!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
My husband and I have a cat named Lily, but we mostly call her Cat (she doesn't really respond to either name :P). She walked into our apartment one day after escaping from her original owner's house, and did so a few more times even after we got her back home. In the end her owner was ok with Cat's decision, and we've been her chosen family now for 8 years.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I like to get on their level and meet them where they are -- literally. I'll sit on the floor patiently and let them approach when they're ready. But if it doesn't work, I won't push it. Sometimes the best thing you can do is show up to feed/clean, and doing that regularly enough will hopefully build the trust they need to approach eventually.

Johanna is the best kitty caretaker ever. My 6 cats each have unique needs such as medication, food type, litter needs, etc. Johana followed directions purrfectly. My cats LOVE her! My Starlord and Zuko ran to greet her every morning for love before they'd let her get up to feed them. She was patient and tidy in everything she did. I adore Johanna. Her superior work ethic and loving heart make her well suited to this work!

Johanna was a perfect sitter for my cats. I couldn’t be happier. As this experience being my very first of hiring a sitter, I didn’t know what I was going to get. I started with a bit of worry and anxiety, but Johanna went above and beyond to keep my cats happy. Daily photos she sent me showed how comfortable and happy my cats were with her. Even my shy girl Lulu did not hesitate to come out of her hiding to hang with her. on top of my cats’ wellbeing, she also took care of my numerous plants , as she watered them exactly as I asked her so when I returned home, all my plants were thriving. African violet is even blossoming with flowers. Next time I’m out of town again and I need a cat sitter, I am 100% reaching out to Johanna for sure.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Bloomfield cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
