In 2018, while I was away at college, I visited an SPCA shelter in Delaware hoping to adopt a cat. That is where Loki chose me, and he completely changed my life. Since then, I have trained him to become an adventure cat who travels and explores alongside me. We hike, camp, kayak, go on walks, visit parks, travel, and enjoy pet-friendly outings together. Raising an adventure cat has taught me so much about feline behavior, body language, enrichment, trust, stress signals, boundaries, and just how unique every cat truly is.
My animal-care experience goes far beyond my own pets. Over the years, I have cared for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, chinchillas, fish, frogs, and other small animals... Hi! I’m Kari, a lifelong animal lover, experienced pet sitter, and proud cat mom to my adventure cat, Loki. Animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I have been caring for pets for family, friends, neighbors, and clients since I was around 12 years old.

I previously worked at a doggie daycare, volunteered regularly with animal shelters throughout college, and have experience with feeding, litter care, socialization, walking, enrichment, and medications. Pet sitting has continued to be an important part of my life into adulthood, and I now regularly care for cats for repeat clients throughout my community.
I absolutely love getting to know each cat’s individual personality and routine. I am comfortable with feeding, refreshing water, litter box care, playtime, brushing, enrichment, cuddles, basic medications, and following detailed care instructions. I have experience with shy cats, energetic cats, senior pets, multi-cat households, and cats who need a little extra patience before they feel comfortable.
One of the things my clients appreciate most is my communication. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to leave your cat behind, so I make sure you never feel out of the loop. I provide detailed updates along with plenty of photos and videos during visits so you can actually see how your cat is doing. I also pay close attention to changes in behavior, appetite, litter habits, or anything else that seems unusual and will always communicate with you if I notice something.
I am self-employed and run my own eco-friendly residential cleaning and organization business, which gives me flexibility with my schedule and makes me especially mindful of respecting and caring for your home. I am happy to bring in mail or packages, water plants, tidy pet areas, wash bowls, clean up scattered litter or food, and make sure everything is left neat and comfortable while you are away.
Most importantly, I never treat every cat the same. Some cats want to play the second I walk through the door, some want endless cuddles, and others simply want someone nearby while they decide whether I have earned their trust. I never force interaction and always follow your cat’s cues. I truly believe the best way to build a relationship with an animal is by respecting who they are and allowing that trust to develop at their pace.
Loki is truly my baby, and I understand how much trust it takes to leave your cat in someone else’s care. When I care for your cat, I take that responsibility personally. My goal is for you to enjoy your time away knowing your furry family member is safe, comfortable, loved, and being cared for as if they were one of my own.
I could talk about cats and animals forever, but ultimately my goal is simple: to make both you and your cat feel completely comfortable while you are apart. I can’t wait to meet you and your kitty!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
In my opinion, the best part about cat sitting is meeting each and every cat and getting to spend time with such unique and independent creatures. Cats have their own personalities and quirks, and it’s always a pleasure to watch them and learn more! Building trust, and to see how they interact with their environment. Each cat has its own rhythm, and it’s rewarding to help them feel comfortable and cared for, even if it’s just for a short time.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes! I have a cat named Loki, a 6-year-old tabby, and he’s my best friend in the whole wide world! He saved me, and I saved him, together we have been inseparable! This summer, we shared the most magical memories together! We traveled all the way to Italy, where my husband and I got married! We spent our wedding and honeymoon with Loki by our side. We explored Italy for a month, and Loki had an absolute blast! We truest do everything together and it is so fun!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
With timid or anxious cats, patience is key! I try to create a calm and safe environment where they can feel in control of their space. I start by giving them time to adjust, avoiding any sudden movements or loud noises, and letting them come to me on their own terms. I offer treats and gentle, quiet interactions, like sitting nearby and letting them approach me when they’re ready. Keeping a consistent routine—like feeding and playtime at the same time each day—can also help build their confidence. And if they like, I’ll give them a cozy spot to retreat to, like a soft bed or a quiet corner, so they can feel secure while still being close. Each cat is different, but with time and trust, they usually start to feel more comfortable and show their true personalities!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Somerset cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Kari was very easy to talk to and work with and she charmed our shy kitty, Stevie, who likes to hide from strangers.
