Hi, I’m Shadi — a certified, Brooklyn-based cat sitter with a lifelong love for cats and a deep respect for their individual needs and routines.

Cats thrive on familiarity and a strong sense of safety, and I understand how important it is for them to feel comfortable in their own environment. My approach to cat care is calm, patient, and detail-oriented. I take the time to learn each cat’s personality, boundaries, and daily habits, whether they’re playful, shy, anxious, or independent. I understand that every cat is different — some seek playtime and attention, while others need patience and space.

I’m certified in professional cat care as well as pet first aid and CPR, and I always prioritize safety, cleanliness, and clear communication. My goal is to give you peace of mind while providing your cat with attentive, reliable, and compassionate care — so you can be away knowing they’re in trusted hands.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I've been caring for cats for most of my life and began professionally cat sitting in January 2026. Since then, I've cared for cats with a wide range of personalities, from highly social cats to timid, anxious, and hiding cats who need extra patience and understanding. I am Pet First Aid & CPR certified and have completed specialized education in both cat sitting and professional pet sitting. In addition to caring for my own three cats, I have experience with feeding routines, litter box maintenance, enrichment and play, medication administration, and providing detailed updates with photos and videos. One of my favorite parts of cat sitting is getting to know each cat as an individual. I enjoy learning their unique routines, preferences, and personalities, and I take pride in noticing the little details that help cats feel comfortable, engaged, and well cared for.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent? My process always starts with a meet-and-greet so I can learn about the cat's personality, routine, preferences, medical needs, and any household instructions. I believe every cat is unique, and understanding their individual needs helps create a safe and stress-free experience. Before the reservation begins, I gather emergency contacts, veterinary information, feeding instructions, and access details. I also take time to answer any questions and make sure cat parents feel comfortable and confident before their trip. During each visit, I provide personalized care that follows the cat's established routine as closely as possible. After every visit, I send detailed updates with photos and videos so cat parents know how their cat is doing and can enjoy peace of mind while they're away.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I never force interaction with a cat. When working with timid or anxious cats, I focus on creating a calm, predictable environment and allow the cat to approach me at their own pace. Some cats are ready to play and socialize right away, while others need time to observe from a distance before they feel comfortable. I use patience, gentle body language, soft vocal tones, and positive reinforcement to build trust while always respecting the cat's boundaries and observing their body language. Many of my favorite cat-sitting experiences have been with shy cats who gradually became more comfortable over the course of a reservation. Seeing a nervous cat begin to trust me—whether that's accepting treats, engaging in play, or simply choosing to sit nearby—is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

This month

My cat is an only child, and is quite attached to me (as I am to her). Shadi was cat sitting her for 4 days and there couldn't have been a better, more attuned and sensible person to care for her as well as keep her stimulated. He adjusted when she needed to hide under the bed, brought her food for her, left treats laying around for her till she was ready to come out. He petted her the way i told him she likes to be petted and she became quickly affectionate and trusted him. He played with her routinely the same way she expects to with me. I know this because he sent me so many videos and pictures of her playing and eating to reassure me (the more anxiously attached one between my cat and I) that she is not down or scared. She quickly warmed up to him and he made sure to get her to her comfort zone. He answered all my questions, offered suggestions I didn't even think of and really made our lives easier. Not that many cat-people out there like Shadi.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
