What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love getting to meet new animals and establish bonds with them. Cats are the best because they aren’t always easy to win over, but once you do you can take on the world. I’ve always felt passionate about animals, and I’d love to make it a career.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have 2 and they are the lights of my life! Kinga is my senior shy girl with medical issues - so i have knowledge on how to win over hesitant babies as well as how to administer pills. Mo is my crazy 2 year old boy with crazy energy and will cuddle just as hard as he’ll play.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
When i met my baby Kinga, she was the shyest animal i had ever seen. I had to spend sessions with her and her foster mom before i could take her home to build her trust. You never want to take a cats trust for granted. I will always get down to their level and extend my hand for them to sniff. If they aren’t interested, the next step is reading body language. Sometimes treats and toys work, other times it’s just a matter of them getting used to you being in their space. I believe talking to them about any and everything also gets them used to your voice and builds more trust.

I was very nervous to leave my cat Joni for a long trip because no one else has ever administered her medication except for me, and she can sometimes be anxious with strangers. Alex immediately put me at ease during our meet and greet, making it clear that she really understands cats and their boundaries, and approaches visits with care and patience. Needless to say, all of the visits and medication administration went swimmingly, and Joni really enjoyed Alex’s company. I would absolutely recommend Alex to anyone looking for a caring cat sitter, and I will definitely be rebooking her the next time I need a sitter!

Alex was such a wonderful cat sitter. Her pics and videos of my little guy were so nice to get, as were her sweet messages about how he was doing. She braved the big snow storm to still do two visits a day even though I told her if it was too hard it would be ok to only go once. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to trust with my beloved kitty.

Alex is incredible! My situation is not run-of-the-mill: I am currently in the process of introducing my 10 y.o. cat Peanut to a new feline friend, after we lost my other resident cat (and her bonded lifemate) in August. The process has been slow and tedious, and I need support with kitty meet n' greets as well as care for the new foster-to-adopt (they're still being kept in separate rooms, and caring for two cats separately takes a toll on a single parent; plus, Peanut gets jealous whenever I spend time with the new guy). Adding Alex to the mix was an absolute game changer. She has experience with complicated cat introductions *and* the kitties love her, she has such a grounding presence (which helps me too as this whole process has been quite stressful). Highly recommend Alex for all your cat sitting *and* cat introduction needs!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

She is thorough and truly cares about my cats in a way that I thought only I could as their pawrent. If I had plans and Alex wasn't available, I would honestly change my plans. That's how safe and comfortable I feel leaving my cat with her. It's hard to find someone you trust with your pet and also to come into your home but I have only had great experiences with Alex. I don't know what Putter and I would do without her for when I'm gone for long stretches of time!!
