Daphne's Exceptional Cat Sitting

Cat Sitting in Buffalo, NY

For as long as I can remember, I have been a cat person. My husband and I currently have two wonderful cats, Cthulhu and Dorian Orange, and they are the best part of my day. Until recently we also had a much loved (and now missed) elderly Maine Coon, Hugo, who required special food and medication to manage diabetes, IBC, and arthritis. As a result, I am well-versed in administering all sorts of medications from steroid pills to antibiotics to insulin injections. Our other cat, Cthulhu, is mostly blind and so I'm used to the challenges that come with that disability... For as long as I can remember, I have been a cat person. As a result, I am well-versed in administering all sorts of medications from steroid pills to antibiotics to insulin injections. Our other cat, Cthulhu, is mostly blind and so I'm used to the challenges that come with that disability. I also have some experience caring for cats with CH, and understand they often require special care and attention.

I work in higher education as a fundraiser by day and do travel often for work. When not travelling, however, I work from home, which allows me some flexibility. Early mornings, nights, and weekends are generally best for my schedule.

My husband and I always request "proof of life" photos and a short summary from our cat sitters at each check-in, and I provide the exact same thing to my clients. I will do everything I can to put you at ease so you can enjoy your time away knowing your cats are in good hands.

Learn More About Daphne

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting through Meowtel for about 3 years, first in the San Francisco Bay Area and now Buffalo and Erie County. Before Meowtel I regularly sat for family and friends' pets while they were away.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I'd by lying if I didn't say I love meeting and making new kitty friends! It's definitely the best part of being a cat sitter. Beyond that, however, I love doing this because it means a lot to provide families with peace of mind when they are traveling. As someone who struggled for years to find a consistent cat sitter who could handle my cat's medications and special needs, knowing I can provide that service to my clients so they never go through what I did is really rewarding and fulfilling.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Absolutely! My husband and I usually don't travel for the holidays, and I love being a consistent and available presence for my clients during such stressful times of year.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have a lot of luck singing to timid and anxious cats, particularly old Disney songs. I used to sing to our old Maine Coon to calm him down and have found it works really well on most cats. I also find sitting quietly with / near them but not looking at them helps!

My cats loved Daphne. She sent pictures every day, was prompt with updates and asked all the right questions. When I got back, they were happier and healthier than when I left. Will absolutely use Daphne again!

Daphne was amazing! We were worried about leaving our cats for the first time without someone staying with them and Daphne put us at ease. She sent plenty of pictures and videos each visit as well as a visit recap. When we got back our kitties were both happy and healthy

Daphne is an absolute treasure! This was our first trip away from home since moving to Buffalo in March, and never hired a pet sitter before (had a trusted neighbor who would take care of our two cats when we were away), so I was a little nervous, but Daphne blew all of those worries away. I knew as soon as she came by for the home visit that she was perfect, the cats immediately ran to her for pets (they don’t do this for everyone), and while we were away she sent so many photos and videos of them from each time she stopped by. The cats LOVED her. she also sent a detailed list of everything she did at each visit, and went above and beyond (taking out the trash, which wasn’t necessary at all). I am excited for our next trip, as I think the cats like her more than us and already miss her haha! Thank you so so much Daphne!

Daphne is an incredible cat sitter and we are SO HAPPY to have found her! our two cats Khaleesi and Rhaego love her, which is clear from the videos and photos she sends of her visits, khaleesi rolls around on the ground begging for belly rubs and Rhaego just yells his love at her.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Buffalo cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
