Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have 2 cats named Franklin and Lily. They are my whole world and love to follow me around the house. Franklin developed urinary issues at 3 years old, so it’s been a battle the last few years trying to figure out what works for him. We have a routine now where he knows to sit with his back against me and tilt his head up when it’s time for his liquid medicine. I go at his pace and if he needs time to adjust or just to have a break, he puts his paw on me to let me know and takes it away when he’s ready to continue. Lily is a sweetheart purring machine and loves playing fetch. Both of them are very shy and anxious around anybody new, so I understand the stress that comes with trying to find a cat sitter you and your cats trust.
What is your favorite cat toy?
My favorite cat toy is the catnip stuffed pickle that says “I’m kind of a big dill!” on it. It has been a hit in every household I’ve seen it in and I have 3 in my apartment because of how much my cats love it. Something I find notable about it is that it doesn’t have any loose strings or feathers that a cat could choke on or ingest. They also hold up really well even through bunny kicking and chewing. The catnip is an extra bonus for enrichment and to help them relax!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I am a firm believer in respecting their boundaries and am extremely empathetic to the stress that having a new person around can cause. Depending on the cat and their level of stress, I will usually sit on the ground and talk softly with the owner to allow the cat time to smell me and get a feel for my voice and energy. I let the cat guide the interaction and only ever pet them when they make it clear they want to be pet. If the cat is anxious to the point of it being a possible health concern (i.e. a urinary issue from stress), I am comfortable communicating about it with pet owners. Regardless of personality, I prefer to minimize sensory stimulation for cats by keeping the lights dim, my voice soft, and my movements slow, intentional, and fluid.

Sammi understands cats so well and had a great time with Miso when she cat-sat for me over a long weekend. She was very communicative about what she did with Miso (fed her, played with her, etc.), how Miso was doing, and even noticed an irritated spot on Miso's foot that she was licking. I felt very calm while she was taking care of my cat.😊

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
