Alongside working at the animal hospital, I also fostered for a Rochester based rescue. For a few years, I had the pleasure of working with "spicy" cats that would much rather be outside than in my house, kittens and their mama's, and super friendly adult kitties. I was able to be more hands on with these animals by administering medications to them when needed, working with... I've been an animal person for as long as I can remember! Growing up, my family had four cats and two to four dogs at a time. We had a turtle at one point as well! As a child, I remember dreaming about being in the veterinary field once I was a grown up (as most little girls do). I was able to make that dream a reality! In 2018, I began working at an animal hospital as a receptionist, and I stayed at that animal hospital for nearly five years. Although I wasn't in a role to be personally caring for the animals, it was a rewarding position in terms of the knowledge I gained, and the clients I was able to work with on a daily basis.
Alongside working at the animal hospital, I also fostered for a Rochester based rescue. For a few years, I had the pleasure of working with "spicy" cats that would much rather be outside than in my house, kittens and their mama's, and super friendly adult kitties. I was able to be more hands on with these animals by administering medications to them when needed, working with their sometimes sassy personalities to prepare them for adopters, and provide them with all the love they could possibly need.
As you can imagine, someone passionate about animals that works with them, both in their full-time job and in rescue work, are likely to end up with a pet or two..or three. I now own EIGHT cats, four dogs, and a bearded dragon because of this dangerous passion! Of my eight cats, two of which I adopted from clients at the animal hospital who found a stray, two of which I adopted from the rescue I worked with (prior to fostering with them), and two were foster fails!
Because of my passion for animals and the experience I have over the years, I began cat sitting on the side of my full-time job back in 2017 or 2018. I love having the opportunity to meet new people through their pets, and of course to meet their pets! I started cat sitting (and dog sitting) for clients at the animal hospital I worked at, for friends of family members, and for people within the community who had heard about me. I eventually stumbled upon Meowtel and decided to expand my services to more areas to be able to ease the minds of more families while they're away from their home!
Although I did work at an animal hospital, I am not trained in administering all forms of medication. I'm comfortable with applying or administering flea/tick medications if your furry friend is due, along with administering oral medications or topical medications. Please let me know if your fur baby needs medication and is not the friendliest with new people, or if they do not do well with medication administration. I will try my best! Nail trims are available if requested and if your pet is cooperative!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I ultimately love being able to spend time with other people's fur babies, since I can't unfortunately fill my house with any more cats! Each and every cat has a personality unique to them, and it's always exciting to start a visit with a new cat(s) where I have to learn their quirks, likes and dislikes, and how to make them happy. It's most rewarding if the cat is known for being shy or mean to strangers, because I make it my goal to try to get them to like me by the end of the visit.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have eight kitties, ranging in age from two to nine! S’more, Cleo, Jill, Jack, Bean, Emmi, Ivy, and Cornelius.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Please don't be afraid to ask questions! You're ultimately leaving your fur children in the hands of a stranger. Ask those questions you may think are silly. I promise you, it isn't a silly question and I'll understand where you're coming from. I want you to feel comfortable and stress-free about the care of your pets while you're away.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
After booking your first visit with me, I'll contact you to set up a complimentary "meet and greet". We'll go over any of your questions or concerns at that time, and I'll have you go over the expectations you have for me during the course of the visits. I'll have you show me where to find everything I'll need, and I'll meet your kitties! Please be prepared to give me a spare key or the pass code for your door. I prefer to test entering your home during the visit to ensure there's no hiccups with keys or pass codes while you're away. Written instructions are preferred, although not a requirement. I'll take notes if notes are not provided.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, I am! I understand traveling to see family is important to a lot of people, and I stay local for the holidays. I’d be more than happy to watch your fur babies while you’re away.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I love using treats! I’ve had success with quite a few timid cats with a bag of temptations and some patience. Please let me know if your cat(s) cannot have treats or have specific allergies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Holley cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $23.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Rachel is an incredible cat sitter for our 3 spoiled cats. She made friends with our tuxedo cat and made sure the other two were fed and had fresh water.
