Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have two kitties named Cowboy and Junebug who I absolutely love. Cowboy is a very active and curious cat, often wanting to climb, play, and explore. Junebug is a very sweet and affectionate girl, but can be rather timid and shy. My current and past cats have given me an understanding of kitty body language, making it easy for me to connect with all sorts of kitty personalities.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

When working with new cat parents, I try to think of what I would want from someone looking after my own cats. I want a sitter who is caring, responsible, and prepared. During the initial meet and greet, I like to ask questions about kitties’ preferences, personalities, and any special needs they may have in addition to standard questions about feeding, vet care, and litter box maintenance. I also try to start building trust with the kitties if possible, so they are less stressed when I return to care for them later. As a cat parent, I know I always feel more comfortable when I see a sitter taking the time to get to know my cats.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

With anxious kitties, it’s important to pay attention to their body language and assess their boundaries. I will usually find a spot to sit down so I’m at the kittie’s level and remain there calmly until they’ve had time to adjust to me being in their space. If treats are available, those can be helpful to begin associating myself with something positive and not scary. Importantly, I let anxious kitties take their time to approach me and never try to follow them if they need time to hide.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
