Cat Sitting in New York, NY

Hi, I’m Céline — a lifelong cat lover with a deep respect for how sensitive and individual cats can be. Hi, I’m Céline — a lifelong cat lover with a deep respect for how sensitive and individual cats can be. Before shifting careers, I worked as a paramedic in New York for nearly a decade, which taught me to stay calm under pressure, pay close attention to detail, and care deeply for those who depend on me.

I find real joy in caring for cats. I’ve also hosted many pet sitters myself, so I know firsthand how important it is to feel secure knowing your furry family member is in capable, attentive hands. My goal is to be that peace of mind — the person you trust to keep your cat safe, comfortable, and content whether you’re at work, away for the day, or on vacation.

I’m especially experienced with cats who have medical needs or special routines. I’m confident administering medications, including pills, liquid meds, inhalers/nebulizers, SubQ injections, and managing specialized diets — always with patience, gentleness, and respect for each cat’s unique temperament.

I’m also a bit of a tidy-up-to-relax type, so you can expect your home to be left just as you found it (if not a little neater). Above all, I believe in building trust through calm energy, consistency, and kindness — meeting each cat where they are and letting them decide when it’s time for the first purr.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been caring for cats for more than 20 years — it started back in high school with my neighbor’s cats, Mia and Slippers, and never really stopped. Over the years, pet sitting has been both a source of joy and a meaningful way to stay connected to my community. Being around animals is truly my happy place, and I always make time for real quality moments — whether that’s playtime, quiet companionship, or just being a calming presence. My medical background as a former paramedic also allows me to confidently handle specialized care for pets who need medication, injections, or other medical support. I take communication seriously: I send regular photo updates and notes so pet parents can relax knowing their cats are safe, content, and in good hands. My goal is simple — to give each cat the same love, attention, and respect I’d want for my own.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Honestly, I just love being around cats. They’re endlessly fascinating — every one of them has a unique rhythm, attitude, and sense of humor. There’s nothing better than watching a cautious kitty decide you’re worthy of their trust, or having a confident one flop down beside you as if you’ve been friends forever. Cats seem to recognize that I’m fully tuned in to them. I take the time to understand their moods, respect their space, and meet them where they are. What I enjoy most about cat sitting is the quiet companionship and the little moments of connection — the playful chase, the soft purr, the slow blink that says, “we’re good.” It never feels like work; it feels like spending time with kindred spirits.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

My favorite cat-sitting experience was with a wonderful cat named Sevro during a two-week stay in London. From the moment we met, he made me laugh — playful, curious, and affectionate in his own mischievous way. We spent hours in the garden together, and at night he liked to curl up and sleep on my head, which quickly became our routine. What made that sit especially meaningful was the trust I built with his family. They’d recently had a traumatic experience with a previous sitter, and understandably were nervous about leaving Sevro. I made it my priority to communicate clearly, send regular photo and video updates, and show them he was happy and thriving. By the end of the sit, they told me they felt totally at ease and thanked my for restoring their faith in pet-sitters.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I’d suggest looking for a sitter who’s calm, attentive, and genuinely comfortable with cats. Someone who respects routines, understands feline body language, and doesn’t rush interactions can make a big difference. Clear communication is also important — a good sitter will ask questions, follow instructions, and keep you updated so you feel confident and at ease while you’re away.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I begin by having a conversation with the cat parent to learn about the cat’s routine, personality, and any special needs. We go over feeding schedules, medications, litter box preferences, favorite hiding spots, and what helps the cat feel most comfortable. During the sit, I stick closely to their normal routine and share regular updates with photos and videos so you always know how things are going. My goal is to make the experience easy and reassuring for both the cat and the cat parent.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I take safety and security very seriously — for both the cats and the home. I always follow the cat’s established routine closely, since consistency is one of the best ways to keep cats calm and safe. I pay close attention to behavior, appetite, and litter box habits, and I communicate promptly if I notice anything out of the ordinary. In the home, I’m careful about doors and windows, make sure everything is locked and secured at the end of each visit, and double-check that any potentially hazardous items are safely out of reach. I follow all care instructions precisely and respect the home as if it were my own. Clear communication is also a key part of safety. I send regular updates with photos so cat parents know how things are going, and I reach out right away if I have any questions or concerns. My goal is always to create

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I’m usually available during holidays. My family is based in the NYC area, so I don’t typically travel far, and I’m happy to be available during busy holiday periods when reliable cat care is especially important.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toy is usually whatever that particular cat loves most. Some cats go wild for wand toys, others prefer something simple — I once cared for a cat who would only chase one very specific shoelace! I’ve found that paying attention to what excites each cat and leaning into their preferences is the best way to keep playtime fun and stress-free

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I always let timid or anxious cats set the pace and take my cues from their body language. I move slowly, speak softly, and never force interaction. I focus on consistency and routine so they feel safe and know what to expect. If it’s appropriate and approved by the cat parent, I may also use a few treats to help build trust — I’ve found the magic of a Churu has helped me make many feline friends. Above all, my goal is to create a calm, low-pressure environment where the cat can relax and come to me on their own terms.

Celine was phenomenal with my cat Jupiter! Jupiter is a big cuddler but also can be shy. Celine did an incredible job building Jupiter's trust and then was willing to give Jupiter the attention she needed. Celine was also great about following care instructions and giving visit updates with photos/videos. I had wonderful peace of mind leaving Jupiter in Celine's care!

Celine was recommended to us by our usual meowtel cat sitter who was unavailable. We are so happy with her! She sent great photos and took such amazing care of our cat. She gave him all kinds of attention and even noticed (and alerted us) of a little cyst he has on his side. Highly recommended!

Celine really let our cat guide the visit. She was unobtrusive, but showed her she was near. Celine asked great questions about our cat and her habits and sent lots of pictures during her stay.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

New York cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
