Hello! My name is Robyn. I’m an NYC-based pro pet sitter and writer with several years’ experience in kitty cat care! Red Cross certified for Emergency CPR and Feline First Aid (2023 certified).

A lifelong cat lover, I understand that compassion and patience are required in the care of our feline friends. As a professional animal caregiver, I take my role seriously. We are our pets’ defenders, their protectors. Your cat is a member of the family, deserving of safety, respect, empathy, boundaried care, and, most importantly, love. As a cat care provider, it is my job to maintain stability and hygienic safety. That means personalized consultations about your ongoing kitty care schedules. Consistency and sticking to the routine are key! When offering care, I value transparency, communication, and daily check-ins. That can be done over your preferred method of text, FaceTime, or with written updates and progress notes. And, when working in clients' homes, my ethos is simple: Leave the space better than you found it! I take pride in keeping your home clean and maintained.

A bit more about myself: I am a remote worker, and my job travels with me. I work a flexible schedule as a writer and editor. And like a cat, I'm a bit nocturnal! While based in Manhattan, I travel throughout New York City, Long Island, and the tri-state area. Once, my cat sitting even took me to Costa Rica.

I specialize in rescues and kittens less than a year old. I respect the preferences of owners, always. What works best for your cat, works best for me. Looking forward to working with you and your catty companions!

No definitive schedule constraints! Remote, flexible worker who maintains a busy, but up-to-date calendar.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been providing professional cat care for 5 years now! I ADORE cats; their grace, their independence, and their ability to keep us on our toes.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Unfortunately, my dad had a severe allergy so we never had a cat growing up. So, I took it upon myself to fall in love with OPC... that's Other People's Cats! My partner is also allergic which prevents us from keeping our own cute kitty in the home. Alas! My obsession with OPC continues...

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Even the most social of cats establish boundaries, and a great cat sitter not only understands this, but can empathize too. I'd encourage cat parents to look for sitters that are deeply appreciative of a cat's inner nature; they train you, not the other way around! A great cat sitter will want to determine your cat's ideal resting state, and catalog how they respond in your absence. A cat sitter with active listening skills usually implies that they're presently minded. The attention a sitter pays to you, the parent, is the attention they'll bring to your cat.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

In addition to cat care, I am a professional writer. That means I take NOTES! I ensure that household routines are vigorously maintained and well documented beforehand. Questions I like to ask of cat parents to maintain their home plus animal safety: Any phobias a cat might have? Disruptive behaviors they've presented in the past? Hiding spots? Traumatic accidents? Affinity for territorial spraying? Favorite objects that provide comfort? Lure snacks? As creatures of instinct and habit, consistency for a cat ensures positive mental welfare. And that means welfare of your home!

What is your favorite cat toy?

Easy! Feather dancers! This gets kitty active, and that's always a win! Any game that helps your cat feel like a big old lion stalking their prey is a great mental--and physical--boost.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

For hidey hole kitties, that is, kitties that don't want to be seen by the sitter, there's a variety of methods to try. First, safety. For timid cats, I usually leave the door open in the hidey hole room while closing doors to other rooms not in use. I'll sit outside the hidey hole room near a food bowl or lure treat but won't touch the bowl, as that can be perceived as predatory. Following treat and food bowl lures, scent marking can be useful. Rubbing scent on a towel or a handcloth then leaving it outside the room can help acclimate kitty so a new presence starts to register as familiar.

Robyn was so amazing, better than we could have asked for! We rarely leave our kitties alone but felt very at ease with Robyn caring for them. We will definitely be hitting her up again the next time we need a cat sitter.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

New York cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
