What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been pet sitting for friends and family for as long as I can remember! Growing up with a deep love for animals, helping out loved ones by caring for their cats and dogs at their homes always felt like second nature to me. Over the years, that informal experience grew into professional animal care, including managing a doggie daycare where I handled daily routines, safety protocols, and behavior monitoring. Combining a lifetime of personal sitting experience with my professional background and Fear-Free training allows me to offer care that is both deeply compassionate and highly dependable.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
The single best piece of advice I can give a cat owner is to prioritize in-home care with a sitter who truly understands feline behavior and body language. Cats are deeply territorial and thrive on routine, so keeping them in their own comfortable environment completely eliminates the stress of transport, unfamiliar scents, and strange territory. Beyond that, look for someone who is genuinely in tune with cats. Someone who respects their boundaries, works at their pace, and brings a proven track record of reliability and honesty. A great cat sitter isn't just someone who feeds your pet, they’re an observant partner who provides safety, calm companionship, and complete peace of mind while you’re away.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Handling timid or anxious cats requires two things that can't be rushed: deep patience and an absolute respect for their boundaries. I never force an interaction. Instead, I let the cat set the pace by staying low, speaking in soft tones, using gentle non-threatening body language, and simply existing quietly in their space while taking care of their essential needs. I know firsthand how rewarding this approach is through my own adopted rescue, Nadja. When I first brought her home, she was extremely anxious, and it took over a year of quiet patience for her to feel safe enough to play in front of me. Today, she willingly comes up to ask for head scratches. That experience, along with my Fear-Free training, taught me that every anxious cat has their own timeline. As a sitter, I build trust through predictable routines, low-stress handling, and giving them the space they need.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
