Cat Sitting in Rochester, NY

Hi, my name is Ulderico. I’m a 29-year-old photographer and cat lover living in Rochester, New York.

Growing up in Hawaii, I was surrounded by animals from an early age, and cats have always held a special place in my life. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate their unique personalities, independence, and the trust they place in the people they choose to let into their world.

I have a calm, relaxed demeanor that many cats seem to respond well to. I understand that every cat is different. Some are social and affectionate, while others are more reserved and prefer their space. I take the time to learn each cat’s personality and adapt my approach to make them feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while you’re away...

I have a calm, relaxed demeanor that many cats seem to respond well to. I understand that every cat is different. Some are social and affectionate, while others are more reserved and prefer their space. I take the time to learn each cat’s personality and adapt my approach to make them feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while you’re away.

Whether your cat enjoys interactive play, quiet companionship, a consistent routine, or simply having someone attentive to their needs, I will provide thoughtful and reliable care tailored to them. I know how important it is to maintain familiar routines and minimize stress, especially when their owners are traveling.

As a professional photographer, I also enjoy capturing candid moments, so there’s a good chance you’ll receive a few memorable photos of your cat during my visits.

I always schedule a meet-and-greet before any commitment because I believe it’s important to get to know both you and your cat, learn their routine, and understand any special needs or preferences.

I will care for your cat with patience, attention, and respect. Every cat has their own personality, and I believe they deserve care that reflects that individuality.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been cat sitting since 2019, but my experience with cats goes back much further. I grew up with pet cats from a young age, so caring for them has always been a part of my life. Over the years, I’ve cared for cats with a wide range of personalities, from highly social cats who love attention to more independent or shy cats who prefer a gentler approach. I understand the importance of maintaining routines, respecting boundaries, and creating a calm, low-stress environment while their owners are away. Whether it’s feeding, litter box care, playtime, medication, or simply providing companionship, I take pride in giving each cat the individualized care they deserve. One of my favorite parts of cat sitting is earning the trust of a cat who initially isn’t quite sure about you. Cats tend to be excellent judges of character, or at least they like us to think so.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I would recommend looking for someone who understands that every cat is different and is willing to adapt their approach to your cat’s personality and needs. A good cat sitter should be reliable, communicative, and attentive to details such as feeding schedules, medications, routines, and any behaviors that are unique to your cat. I also think it’s important to schedule a meet-and-greet beforehand. This gives you a chance to see how the sitter interacts with your cat, discuss expectations, and make sure everyone is comfortable. Cats can be selective about the people they allow into their inner circle, a trait that is both admirable and mildly inconvenient. Most importantly, choose someone you trust to care for your cat as an individual, not just complete a checklist of tasks. The best cat sitters pay attention to both a cat’s physical needs and their emotional well-being while you’re away.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I prioritize safety and consistency at every step of the visit. Before any booking, I do a meet-and-greet to learn the cat’s routine, the home layout, and any specific instructions or concerns. I make sure I fully understand feeding schedules, litter box preferences, medication needs, and any potential hazards in the home. During visits, I follow instructions closely and keep a calm, predictable routine so the cat feels secure and stressed as little as possible. I always double-check doors, windows, and entry points to ensure the home stays secure, especially before leaving. I’m mindful about not introducing anything unfamiliar or disruptive into the cat’s environment. I also pay close attention to the cat’s behavior and health while I’m there. Any changes in appetite, energy, or litter box habits are noted and communicated if needed. If anything ever seems off, I reach out right away rather than assuming.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
