Cat Sitting in Akron, OH

Hi, my name is Matt, and I've been a cat dad for about 10 years now! I have 3 fur balls named Onion, Dewie, and Goose.

My love for cats started when I adopted Onion, soon after moving out at 19. He taught me all about how expressive, curious, and loving these little creatures can be (so much so that they now outnumber my wife and I!). Previously, I imagined myself to be a dog person, but was quickly converted by the unique personality and charm of our feline friends.

My experiences and skills can best be described through the categories below:

Hi, my name is Matt, and I've been a cat dad for about 10 years now! I have 3 fur balls named Onion, Dewie, and Goose.

My love for cats started when I adopted Onion, soon after moving out at 19. He taught me all about how expressive, curious, and loving these little creatures can be (so much so that they now outnumber my wife and I!). Previously, I imagined myself to be a dog person, but was quickly converted by the unique personality and charm of our feline friends.

My experiences and skills can best be described through the categories below:

Medical-
I have provided oral/topical medications, injection medication (including at home IV administration), wound care/cleaning, and various other types of first aid, with a certification in pet CPR! (unsure/any question, don't hesitate to reach out and ask!)

Lifestyle-
I have cared for cats of all life stages, ranging from kitten to senior, sedentary to off-the-walls, and cuddly to shy. In my heart, one of the most important parts of caring for a kitty is understanding their unique personality and habits. It's what makes them special, so I pride myself in my ability to earn your cats trust, and learn what they need from me to feel safe.

Peace of Mind for Owners-
As an cat dad, I know just HOW stressful it can be to leave our furry friends behind. That's why I strive to be the person you can rely on, providing an enjoyable experience for your cats, and allowing you a relaxing getaway. With that in mind, there is no such thing as "too much info" when it comes to providing the right care for your cat! They're particular little guys, and learning about their routines, habits, and overall behaviors only makes the experience easier for everyone!

I look forward to meeting the fur balls you call family, and I'll get to call new friends!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Playing with the cats is always amazing, but my personal favorite is seeing the progress of shy ones as they begin to open up and feel more comfortable around you! Also, you can't beat the random hang out spots you sometimes find them in (my personal favorite was learning that one preferred sleeping on top of the refrigerator)

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

My primary goals are learning their concerns, fielding any questions about the process, easing their worries, and making sure everyone is on the same page about routines, expectations, and how I can provide the best service possible!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Communication is key! A well planned discussion that includes expectations, boundaries, and any other relevant information goes a long way! My goal in this regard is to be respectful, diligent, and cautious when being trusted with your property and family!

Matthew did an excellent job taking care of our three cats while we were away. He was reliable, communicative, and sent plenty of pictures and updates, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. It was clear that he genuinely cared about our cats and took the time to make sure they were comfortable and well looked after. We also discovered after leaving that we had accidentally left something valuable out in the open. Matthew noticed it and went out of his way to put it somewhere safe for us, which was incredibly thoughtful and appreciated. We came home to happy cats and everything exactly as it should be. I would absolutely book with Matthew again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring cat sitter.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Akron cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $24.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
