Robin's Expert Cat Sitting For Mew

Cat Sitting in Akron, OH

TLDR: I have experience medicating cats in a variety of ways including orally and topically. I’m highly empathetic and communicative. I want nothing but what’s best for every cat and family I work with and will do everything in my power to make my time with your furry friend as fun for them as possible 😸

Hello, fellow cat-lover!

I’ve been cat sitting professionally for years and have been a cat parent/sibling my whole life. My soulmate-cat, Clyde, who passed when he was 21 and I was 24, kickstarted my love of cats from a young age. I’ve always had a special connection with cats, something that has been remarked upon by many people. I lived in Florida in 2020 and developed a close relationship with the stray cat colony in my apartment complex. Neighbors would remark to me on how they’d never seen these cats interact with anyone aside from me. Though I wasn’t able to TNR them during my time there, I coordinated not long after moving home to Ohio with fellow cat-lovers in the community to TNR the colony.

Currently living with me are my two boys, Chicory and Chestnut...

Currently living with me are my two boys, Chicory and Chestnut. As a kitten, Chicory came home to Ohio from Florida with my significant other and myself at the end of 2020. He’s the most empathetic cat I’ve ever known, but still a big ol’ stinker when he wants to be! Chestnut found us a week (to the minute!) after my 21-year-old void, Blue, passed away in August 2023. After some major medical scares early on, we’re working out Chestnut’s needs on an ongoing basis to keep him happy and as healthy as possible. He gets daily oral medications (twice daily, hopefully weaning down soon!).

In 2020, I lost my 17-year-old, Silver, to cancer and my parents 14-year-old, Digit, to diabetes. During Silv’s illness, I administered medication in a variety of formats, as well as providing post-op care after his surgery (while successful, the cancer unfortunately spread a few months later). I’d also taken care of Digit for my parents at many points during her illness, including following detailed food and medication instructions. Additionally, Digit was a timid - though loving - cat, so I often would have to coax her out of her hiding spots to administer insulin shots. For the last year or so of her life, Blue received subcutaneous fluids three times per week, as well as numerous daily medications in both pill and liquid form. My significant other and I tag teamed administering these.

Outside of my love for cats, I have a Master’s in Library and Information Science and tutored writing for a decade. Writing tutoring is largely about making connections with writers to discuss the content of their writing, a very personal and intimate thing to share.

I believe it’s my highly empathetic nature that makes me good at working with people as well as with animals.

If you’ve read this far, thank you! I hope you enjoyed reading the book I've written you and I hope this glimpse into what makes me me will give you the confidence to entrust me with your furry friend! :)

IMPORTANT NOTES:
-If I don’t appear to have availability when you’re looking to book, please message me anyway! I can almost always work something out 😺
-I recommend for long trips that at least one short appointment be made for every day you’re gone or every other day for longer appointments; I’m sincerely not trying to upsell anybody, just make sure that all cats are safe and don’t feel lonely.
-Meowtel doesn’t allow me to unselect “midday” and still have “no time preference” available. I am NOT available weekdays midday most of the time. If this option is selected, I consider it the same as “no time preference”.
-Please make sure to book at least two days in advance of leaving for your trip. This ensures I’m able to meet you and your cat, learn any specifics, and get a key for the duration of our booking.
-If I do have to turn down a booking due to time constraints, please know that I’d love nothing more than to be able to work with you and your cat.
-I tend to err on the side of over-communicating with pet parents. Please be direct with me if you’d prefer a different communication style/amount of communication ☺️

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Learn More About Robin

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I've been cat sitting on Meowtel since 2022 and had sat previously for family and friends.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love everything about cat sitting. Genuinely. Forming relationships is the most valuable thing to me in general, but especially in regards to cat sitting. There's no feeling as great as making that connection with a shy or nervous cat. I believe that it's important to meet everyone where they're at; a scared cat is no different. Just sitting quietly and establishing a pattern of "Hey friend, I'm not scary" is all it (usually) takes for me to help a cat to feel more secure in a scary time.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Oh man, different cat toys are great for different cats! I always keep shiny pipe cleaners in my car though, as I've never seen a cat not want to play with one! (Don't worry; I never bring in any toys or food without getting the owner’s go-ahead beforehand!)

Everything was done with care and exactly following the instructions given. My three girls very much appreciated the patient and thorough care they received and I was happy to receive frequent updates during visits. I would happily book again if and when the opportunity arises.

Robin did an absolutely wonderful job caring for my two cats. She followed each of their schedules with food and medication. Her communication and care went above and beyond anything I had expected when I first started looking for cat sitters. Most importantly both of my cats were quick to warm up to her, making the visits both comforting and enriching for them. I will certainly be looking Robin's way again the next time I need a sitter, and anyone else looking to book her can with confidence of high quality care.

Our family raised our cats from bottles, and had NEVER before left them alone. Anxiety is an understatement. I now can offer advice to other cat-families: Hire Robin. She’s a cat whisperer. I’ve never seen our cats take to ANYONE as quickly. Couldn’t believe my eyes. The bond was near-instant. If her innate understanding of cats is witchcraft…well, she weighs the same as a duck, which means she’s made of wood, and therefore…your cats will get the BEST care, in a way that limits their stress. To sum up: Hire Robin.

Robin was flexbile and kind to take care of bella - I just sent her videos of bella’s feeding style etc. That was a huge relieve. while I’m away, Robin send videos of bella eating, haing out etc. The communication was super easy and Robin replied right away. highly recommended : 5 stars ⭐️😇

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Akron cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $22.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
