What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been a professional Meowtel cat sitter for over two years and have completed 100+ reservations while caring for cats of all ages, personalities, and needs. From playful kittens to senior cats and those requiring medication, I tailor my care to each cat's routine. One of my favorite compliments from clients is that even shy or reserved cats often warm up to me by the end of a reservation!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Building trust with each cat is my favorite part of cat sitting. Every cat has a unique personality, and I love watching timid cats gain confidence or energetic cats show off their playful side. Just as importantly, I enjoy helping pet parents relax while they're away by providing detailed updates, plenty of photos, and the peace of mind that their furry family member is receiving loving care.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
It's hard to pick just one! Every reservation is memorable in its own way. I've cared for everything from affectionate lap cats to curious Sphynx cats and shy kitties who preferred to observe from a distance. One of the most rewarding experiences is when a nervous cat who hid during the first visit eventually comes out to greet me or even asks for pets by the end of the reservation.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I do! My husband and I share our home with four wonderful cats: Clover, Juniper, Onyx, and Onion. We adopted two bonded pairs, and each has a completely different personality. Living with four cats has taught me that there's no such thing as a "typical" cat, which helps me better understand and care for every feline client I meet.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Look for someone who communicates well, has experience with cats like yours, and makes you feel comfortable leaving your home and pets in their care. Read reviews, schedule a meet & greet, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Finding a sitter you trust makes traveling much less stressful for both you and your cats.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
Once your reservation is confirmed, we'll schedule a meet & greet close to your travel dates. During our visit, I'll get to know you and your cat, learn their routine, note feeding instructions, litter box locations, favorite toys, hiding spots, medications (if needed), and answer any questions you may have. My goal is for both you and your cat to feel comfortable before your trip even begins.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Safety is always my top priority. I carefully secure doors and windows before entering and leaving, follow your cat's normal routine as closely as possible, and pay close attention to any changes in behavior or health. I'll also keep your home tidy and provide detailed updates and photos after every visit so you always know how your cat is doing.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes! Since my family is local, I'm typically available for major holidays and understand they're some of the busiest travel times of the year. Holiday availability fills quickly, so I always recommend booking as early as possible to reserve your preferred dates.
What is your favorite cat toy?
Wand toys are always a favorite because they're a great way to encourage exercise and interactive play! At home, my cats also love crinkle balls, spring toys, and anything filled with catnip. Of course, every cat has their own preferences, so I enjoy finding the toy that brings out each cat's playful side.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Patience is key. I never force interactions and always let the cat set the pace. I'll speak softly, move calmly, and respect their personal space while offering gentle encouragement through treats, toys, or simply sitting quietly nearby. Some cats warm up right away, while others need more time, and I'm happy to meet them where they're are. It's incredibly rewarding when a shy cat decides I'm trustworthy enough for a slow blink or a head bump.

I had been worried I might have to cancel my trip because I was so nervous about leaving Daisy and her newborn kittens, but after getting in touch with Amanda, I realized I had no reason to worry. She took wonderful care of Daisy and the kittens, kept me updated throughout my trip, and even administered Daisy’s eye medication without any issues. Amanda was awesome! My cat is very clingy and human-oriented, and was visibly upset about my family's absence when we left town. Amanda was very patient with her, as my cat was showing signs of wishing to be alone and alienating herself, which is not her typical personality at all. Amanda attempted to play with her anyway and read her cues, but when she just wasn't interested, she still tried to remain open in case my cat changed her mind. Towards the end of our trip, my cat seemed to relax a bit and become more sociable, and I credit Amanda for that, due to her patience, engagement, soft spoken voice, and demeanor. My cat was fed as scheduled, and given affection as needed. Amanda took care of our security system with no issues and even went the extra mile by placing our trash out since we were not there. She provided plenty of photos for us during her visits. My cat was barely sleeping while we were gone - I noticed this due to our cameras, and I was worried about her due to her obviously being depressed about our brief departure, but Amanda gave her some reassurance and company. I think my cat appreciated knowing that someone was coming twice a day, even if she wished it was us returning home - she at least had something to look forward to and a sense of normalcy. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Cleves cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
